Your favorite banded breakfast.....

Recommended Posts

Start with coffee and then a low-carb slim (2 grams carbs--20 grams protein)

About 10:00 a.m it's l/4 C nonfat refried Beans on a microwave crisped corn tortilla (if I have time)

I need 1000 - 1200 cals a day or I don't lose. I prefer adding them in the am

Thankfully, I am addicted to healthy food--a big departure from pre-band days. Guess I don't want to waste effort on eating junk!

MaryB--The only change in my sleeping pattern is that I sleep more soundly. I'm rarely tired during the day, another pleasant byproduct of the band.

I can't eat most solids in the morning. I used to eat thinned-out oatmeal, but I had a tendency of adding too much sugar and it wasn't keeping me full for very long.

I now have my chocolate Protein shake, blended with ice which makes like a malt shake. YUM!! And it goes down beautifully and keeps me full for a long time AND is packed full of protein... But I usually have coffee first thing, then my shake about 2 hours later.

Sheryl...I also drink a shake and I found out that if I use vanilla Protein powder I can do a lot more with it. I add cocoa powder (like the baking kind) to make a chocolate. I add strawberries to make a strawberry shake. I love adding the vanilla powder to orange or grapefruit Crystal Light. Lots of things to do with vanilla...(like adding chocolate Cookies, sf candy ... Reese's, etc.). Love the stuff!!!

Depending on my restriction level (as usual, it's time for a fill, I think)

  • With more restriction:

A Protein Drink made kind of thick (I often add a spoonful of Peanut Butter or a spoonful of Cream of Wheat to thicken it up a bit)

  • With less restriction:

A 'fried' egg (in Pam or nonstick cooking spray) Or EggBeaters works. I like them with salsa and a sprinkle of shredded cheese

And to answer the newbie question above: As I get more restricted, than I rarely eat bread now. I can eat some, but if it's doughy (like biscuits, sourdough or soft rolls & breads, dumplings, tortilla, croissants, doughnuts, sweet rolls) than it's too filling. Even a little gives my pouch an overfilled stuffed feeling. But I can eat anything crunchy - so I prefer crunchy things. Anything that has to be chewed a lot works better. So I don't eat toast unless it's toasted twice (it has to be hard and crunchy) and I can only eat one slice. Usually I don't bother.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
