How can this be

Hi All, How is it that some of my parts are smaller today then when I was younger and weighed less? Case in point I am wearing my high school grad ring its been way too small for decades. I also in certain light can see my rib bones on my chest I have never seen those not even at my thinnest which was 40lbs lighter then I am now. Do our bodies really change that much with age?

Similar thing is happening to me. At this same weight 8 years ago I looked bigger, I even changed my goal cause my intention wasn't to be too skinny!

I went through the same thing. I am smaller than I was in middle school, and I've looked back at pictures. My face is definitely different that it was 25 years ago. I still had chubby cheeks, and my neck was way bigger. But, I now have weight in my abdomen that I didn't have back then. My ribs are visible as is my sternum, and I know those bones didn't show through my skin like they do now. It's kind of weird, but in a "good weird" way ! ! !

My tummy is my big problem too, not that I'm that bothered as I'm happy I'm still losing weight, slowly but losing, and I know that at some point I'm getting my tummy fixed!

My mom says when you have kids your rib cage expand. I wear a size 8/10P but when I wear something fitted I need a 12/14P because of my boob/rib area which stick out. Of course boobs are supposed to. But my rib cage feels massive. I love it though. Just different. I did carry my youngest son very high in my rib cage area so I thought it was him that did it.

When I was young I weighed still 46 lbs less and did not have this huge rib cage.

Who cares though, that is what I'm thinking. heehee I like my bones.

As we age, we also lose some subcutaneous fat (fat just under the skin), and our skin thins out a bit, so we are able to see bones where we didn't before (face, chest). That's why those who are a little 'plumper' appear to be younger.

Guess i'd rather look my age and be healthy than look younger. hee hee!

Who, knew (G) I mean I am no fool I certainly did not think my old 20 something body hiding under all the fat and I knew there would be some loose skin but I certainly never imagine the bony granny I am discovering! Don't get me wrong I'd take granny anyday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
