What brand of yogurt

Recommended Posts

You pretty much can't find yogurt with that low of carbs, Greek Yogurt has less carbs and more protien. a lot

of people like carb master that you can get at Krogers. I think it's tasteless. I like Chiboni yogurt the best.

I also like Brown cow that I get at walmart.,

There's something about the carbs from yogurt that makes them not really count as high as they're listed, but I can't remember exactly what or why that is... might want to Google it though.

I love the Fage and Oikos greeks, but lately I've been getting the Kroger Carbmaster yogurt, which only have 4 carbs. Lots of yummy flavors and they're like three for a dollar (compared to almost $2 each for the Greek). They're not thick and heavy like the Greeks are, which I love, and have more the thinner consistency of regular yogurt, but for the price, flavor, and carb/protein counts, you can't beat them.

I'm not a yogurt fan AT ALL! But, since I'm limited on my pre op diet I eat it.

I can tolerate greek yogurt. And, my dr suggested Light and Fit from Dannon. I like it

I prefer greek yogurt for the thicker consistency and higher Protein content. I sometimes buy the individual containers of caramel flavor (but it is higher in carbs than some people are allowed - my dietician doesn't have a carb limit, its all about eating Protein first).

Lately, though, I've been buying the larger tub of the vanilla, fewer carbs than the other flavors and I mix in some Kashi Go Lean Cereal for a little crunch and a few extra grams of protein.

There is also an Athenos brand at Walmart that has a little side cup of fruit. It is more tangy in flavor than the oikos, and I mix in about half the fruit for a little sweetness.

I've tried the Carbmasters yogurt and it is too thin and bland for me now that I've developed a taste for greek yogurt.

I find Carbmasters to be really bland too. Bland is a perfect word for it.

It's all about the Brown Cow, baby!! Brown Cow Greek Yogurt is super delish, without unecessary chemicals and super low in carbs - 4 grams per serving if memory serves? Deeee-lish!!

The Fage 2% has 8g of carbs and 17g of Protein but it is probably also twice the size of the other yogurts, so if you do the math and get it down to a 100g container, you are too at 4g of carbs and 8.5g of Protein.< /p>

I think it is totally worth it because it also has mostly natural ingredients. I am no health nut or conspiracy theorist who believes that everyone is out to get me and everything is a big plot of the industry, but I always feel the less ingredients, the better - skimmed milk, cream and yogurt bacteria, that's it in Fage 2%.

I do find it shocking how many carbs are in plain regular yogurt - if I want carbs in mine, I take a greek yogurt and mix it with maple Syrup or agave nectar. THOSE carbs are worth having, that's for sure :-)

do you think the sugar is okay in the chobani, I too love it! I haven't had the surgery yet, but was wondering about this, I love yogurt, but am I going to have to do plain in the beginning?

I haven't bought the Chobani because of the carb count. Some people are really sensitive to carbs, and others do great with calorie restriction alone, regardless of the make-up of the calories--I'm one who can't lose if I got over 40-ish carbs, no matter how low I keep the calories. With the plain yogurt, what I do most is put in a few drops of vanilla extract and a couple packets of Splenda or Truvia, but you can also use sf flavored syrups, sf jam, stuff like that.

Are you both talking about plain? I don't think I have ever seen plain Chobani, only with flavors which dramatically increases the carb count!

you can buy plain chibonis and put in sf syrups .. I like raspberry. You can also just put splenda or stevia in it.

I like to mix in a few blueberries (gotta have some Fiber from somewhere) and some stevia.

Its way less carbs to buy plain and figure out a way to flavor it. There are a lot of ways. People use sf jam too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
