Recommended Posts

Ok, I don't know any other way to describe this feeling other than constant nausea. My stomach just feels horrible. NO matter what I eat or drink, I get the same outcome. Even when I don't eat I get the same outcome, I have taken Nexium, tums, maalox, Nothing helps, can someone please tell me why I feel this CONSTANT NAUSEA AND HOW DO I GET PASS THIS FEELING. This has been going on for about a week or so and I wake up with this feeling and go to sleep with this feeling, I don't know what to do, please help.

Could you be dehydrated? It can cause constant nausea. Are you still taking the acid reducer Nexium? If it's not working for you, you might need to switch to something else? How far out are you?

If your lacking fluids, try some Gatorade for the added electrolytes. I used the Pedialyte freezer pops, and didn't care about the carbs/calories because hydration was my main goal. You'll need to contact your surgeon if you can't get resolution.

Sorry to hear that you have that OOGY feeling. My doctor gave me powdreded Nexium, which you mix with 1-Tbsp warm Water, and tastes really nice and orangey. Get a prescription for that... although it is not cheap, it is really good.

My stomach feels fine, as long as I don't eat anything, LOL. It really rumbles and tumbles when I start to eat, but everything works, the plumbing is all connected, it's just that I guess it takes awhile for your poor tummy to calm down.

Also, I read in a newish WLS book, for constant nausea, go into the spices section of your foodstore and purchase a little bottole of powdered ginger. Mix in a tiny bit with all your Water, it wil calm your stomach, they say.

Good luck with it, and if the ginger fails you, get the Nexium.

I have a sensitive stomach so I was very anxious about the nausea. I only had it twice and it passed quickly. I talked to my Dr prior to my surgery about my issue and he gave me a presciption for nausea. It's a little patch that I wear behind my rt ear. Each patch lasts 3 days and he prescribed 4 of them. I guess they are working since I have not been queezy. The patch is called Scopolamine Patch. Check with your Dr and see if you can have him call it in for you. It might help. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
