Hi all,

Well, my insurance policy (which the insurance lady walked me through) says two different things so it appears as though my surgery is stalled for awhile. I thought I was going to get it in Jan and now it looks like anywhere from March to June!!!!!! So very bummed...will this ever happen? Now I have alot more hoops I have to go through (and my husband too)! Boo hoo!!!!! Tracy

That's too bad, sorry to hear it. Keep your chin up and keep after those insurance hacks... it is their job to make it a pain in the butt. You never know what will happen. Good luck.

It is sooooo hard waiting! I feel for you. Once you decide you are going to have surgery most of us want it "right now" but the insurance companies have much different plans for us.

I was sleeved almost 2 months ago and my husbands file is currently with our insurance. The race is on to have it before the end of the year or it will cost us another $5K out of pocket, but we are prepared that it might not happen in 2010 and go into 2011. But that still won't keep us from being disappointed. :(

Good luck to you, hopefully by this time next year you will be 6-9 months post-op and rocking that sleeve!

Tracy I had to do three months of weight loss managment too! I did it for a year but not EVERY FOUR WEEKS so it didn't count. NOW I went in Oct, Nov, Dec but they want me to weigh in ONE MORE TIME in January! I also had to get my last 5 YEARS from my doctor to PROVE I've been over weight! NOW I WAIT to see if they will approve me! I went in Aug, Oct, Nov, and Dec so I'm HOPING this will SATISFY THEM!! I honestly think they just want to WAIT for the new year and I have to meet my deductable again!!! GRRRR

Anyway, to answer one of your questions I was told by my Doctors office that my insurance doesn't care if I lose weight or not. I have BCBS of OKLA. I have read where if you get under a certain BMI then they won't approve you but I have a HIGH BMI!

Hope this HELPS! There are SEVERAL of us on the WAITING TRAIN....HOPING to get to ONEDERLAND!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
