Hey...If The Shoe Fits!

Recommended Posts

ranger.gifFeet, who likes to talk about that but it has been on my mind(not in any weird kind of way). Here is why, before I ballooned to "error" on the scale I used to wear a 8.5-9 US size(by the way I am 5'9oh.gif). Then I had my children and you know the rest...but I currently wear a 11sign46.gifmad2.gif!! My post is asking you to share whether you feet have stayed the same, have gotten smaller in some way(by the way I also buy WIDE-like a semi-truck). Between you and me, one of the things I miss the most is finding and wearing cute shoes.

Would you care to share your foot story pre-op versus post-op:)

tea.gifThank you so much, my surgery date is now Dec. 15th. Thank you.tea.gif

One of the things on my top ten reasons to get WLS is to be able to fit in cute shoes!

GOOD NEWS ! ! ! Feet shrink too. At least mine have, and they've shrunk tremendously.

I wore a solid 8-8.5W pre-op, today I wear a comfortable 7 (normal width). I think the only reason I need an 8-8.5 is because my foot was wide like a wooden boat, I also have flat feet, with a high instep so to squeeze my "Fred Flintstone" feet, as my lovely husband calls them (how I'd like to strangle him), into decent shoes I needed the extra length to accommodate the fatness of my feet.

One of my most profound NSVs: Being able to see all the tiny bones in my feet, and to have space in between my toes without spreading out my toes. I had little sausages for toes, now their boney and I actually have toenails that look good polished LOL ! ! !

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
