The only thing that I see is that your carbs outweigh your Protein. I don't know what guidelines you were given, but see if you can cut some carbs and increase protein.

Most my carbs are from milk and that is what my Protein Drink are made with so how do I cut that? Or what else is really good to up my Protein with? I am on Soft/Mushy foods for the most part! I am pretty sure next week when I meet with the doctor/ NUT I will be moved onto solids.

I m still a researcher but aren't you a due for a stall. Been reading quite a bit it seems everybody has a stall around the 3rd week. I know you need to change things up but try to relax and really try to be patient.. Lol Good luck!!

Are you allowed to have blended or mushed chicken tuna or eggs on mushies? I stuck to chicken, tuna and egg salad A lot in the mushy stage, mixed it with greek yogurt and a little sprinkling of dry ranch dressing, I'd use mayo or miracle whip sometimes as well, and that got me my Protein grams without Protein supplements. I am not a milk drinker and developed lactose intolerance post-op so I couldn't use any of the whey Protein drinks and soy protein made me hurl because of the taste and texture.

What Protein powder are you adding to the milk? When I was doing the trial and error thing for protein supplements, I made sure the protein count was at least 3-5 times that of the carb count. Most of the protein powders offered 20-30gr of protein per scoop with 3-6gr of carbs. I did get most of my carbs from cheese, and refried Beans were a staple in my diet. I didn't really freak out over the carbs in Beans because I was eating so little, and it's good Fiber. I just ate my protein because I couldn't drink the Proteins. 4 meals per day with a minimum of 15gr of protein per meal gave me my 60grams of protein.

I would say just keep trying to up your Water to 64oz. You will be fine, have you been measuring yourself?

I was hoping my taste would change more but still a BIG NO to yogurt!! Only time I actually felt like throwing up since surgery was when I tried it again! LOL I have always hated it though! LOL

I haven't tried tuna yet, but I do have some in the house so maybe I'll try that for lunch today!

The carb count on the Protein drinks is I believe 7g while the Protein is 60g but I have only been using 1/3 when I have been making them because I was doing different recipes for the list on here!

I have thought that maybe I might be able to up my Water now, it seems I can take bigger drinks then the tiny sips I've been taking!

I haven't really lost any weight since the first few days out of the hosptial! BUT even more then that, I want to make sure that I am eating the right things! I can say I crave meat and veggies which is so crazy!! I see chocolate and think ick! LOL

I was the same way with veggies. I would see people eating sweets, and it repulsed me. I hated the smell of Cookies and cakes for the longest time.

You're doing great. I stuck with green Beans because they're so low on the glycemic index, and I could eat several of them with meat first. Plus, I'd buy frozen green Beans, and steam them for a bit of texture. It's still a mushy, but steamed veggies were heavenly.

Well, are they made with milk or do YOU make them with milk? I'd suggest you make it without milk then - I make mine just with Water. I know, with milk tastes better, but if carbs are a concern, you may have to accept the hit in flavor. Try adding splenda or any other low carb beverage.

If you want to up the Protein, add more Protein Powder - the "protein to carb/calories" ratio in protein powder is much higher than with the added milk.

In general, your protein is fairly low, 43g on Su/Mo and 52g on Tu. I felt I broke my stall when I made sure I hit the 60g -- but then, who can tell, because stalls usually just break all by themselves anyway. 52 is OK, 43 seems on the low end to me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
