lisabug 10 Posted December 8, 2010 I am day 6 post op. I have seen others having issues with being cold. Not me, I keep having hot flashes and sweating profusely. I have checked my temp, it is normal. It is 20 degrees here and I have my bedroom window open. Has anyone else had this? It just started yesterday. I am seem to be losing weight since this started. I have tried drinking juice when it happens, but it doesn't help. I thought maybe my blood sugar was too low from no carbs.
Oopsseedaisy 90 Posted December 8, 2010 Yowza! I sure hope this doesn't happen to me. I am hot all the time now as it is. My family wears sweat shirts during the summer in my house because I keep it so cold. I sure hope this stage ends for you very soon.
SarahS 13 Posted December 8, 2010 Are you taking pain meds? After surgery when I was taking the pain meds I would get super hot too. Not sure why. I hope this passes for you!
MicNic 0 Posted December 8, 2010 Someone told me it was due to hormones being released when the fat was being used. I had them for the first week and a half but I haven't had any in a while so it must have evened out. I would cover my body with a blanket and then turn the fan on to my face. I didn't get hot all over but my cheeks would turn bright red! Glad that is done!
lisabug 10 Posted December 8, 2010 I turn white as a ghost when it happens. I hope it gets better once I start other "foods" today. Excited to have cream Soup today.
Lookinupin2010 0 Posted December 11, 2010 I actually went through hot flashes for about 5 months. I'm 58 and already gone through all that menopause stuff, so you can imagine the shock I was in. Dr. told me that estrogen is stored in fat cells. As your fat cells shrink, the estrogen is released into your body. Therefore, you can RE-experience the hot flashes from menopause as you lose weight. I'm 8 months out now, and have lost 120 lbs. Finally, the hot flash thing has ended. I think the more weight you need to lose, the longer it lasts. I started out at 365 lbs. Just hang in there...it goes away as well as the weight. I am day 6 post op. Jolanda 23 Posted December 18, 2010 Not me - I'm always cold now! Except if I drink a big mug of hot coffee or tea - then I'm immediately hot. I've turned into a lizard or something...
BZButterfly79 19 Posted December 19, 2010 I can tell you that being barely 5 days out I know what you mean for me my entire face begins to feel warm, I look like I caked on blush and it is a very weird feeling, I wonder if that's the fat melting off my face? LOL
Stacy160 201 Posted December 19, 2010 I had them too, on and off for the first couple of weeks. I was sleeved at the end of January, so most of the time I was freezing, but then I'd cover up with a blanket to get warm and next thing I knew, I'd be breaking out in a sweat. It regulated after a couple of weeks to where I was just freezing all the time LOL.
