I need some encouragement

Recommended Posts

Hey Girls,

I am in need of some encouragement. I am not eating well at all. With everything that has been going on I have resorted back to my old eating habits and I am really feeling bad for it. I am drinking with my meals. I am eating way too much and afraid I may have stretched my pouch because I can just eat and eat and not feel full at all. I haven't lost any weight since December and I am fluctuating all the time. My one year is up on the 30th of June and I wanted to at least be 3/4 of the way there but feel like I have failed in some odd miserable way? Am I being too hard on myself?

What I want you to please do is to show me the bandster way of eating again? What do I need for Breakfast, lunch, dinner. And what do I need for my Snacks. I feel like I need to learn all over again. I am ashamed and feeling pretty bad about this right now. Please help me!

Angie

Oh Angie, I am so sorry! Right now I think I have enough will power for both of us! You're 1/2 way there, and have absolutely no reason to be ashamed. Pick up the pieces and take one day at a time. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn't here yet. We love you! You can do this!

I'm too new to preach on how to eat, but have you tried journaling? I started before I went on liquids. I don't just write down everything I eat, but how I'm feeling. If you write when you're feeling emotional, maybe you'll think twice before eating? If you write down everything you eat, maybe you'll make better food choices?

I may not have the answers, but I can listen if you want to talk. Please don't hesitate to call me.

Aw Angie. You ARE being hard on yourself, but I think...in a shade-tree psychologist kind of way...the thing you need most is exactly what you are avoiding. Structure, accountability, rules, focus, and drive. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with your new reality. You are avoiding what will help you to feel better...staying on track with good eating.

Get your hugs from your kids, not from food. Your kids are NOT what's making this hard. Embrace them. Be kind to yourself. See you Sat and you'll get more hugs then!!!!!

Girl first you are being too hard on yourself. You are going through so much and I can only imgine what it's like.

When I get in a rut - I start over...like I just had a fill do the liquids then advance to mushies and then to solids...it's all new again. A new year and a new band again. Maybe you do need a fill - have you called for one? Go back and see your nutritionist - I know that helps me also. Karen is right on the journal - accountablity.

Good luck and you have come to the right place we are hear for you. Like Kathy said give those girls a hug and then go and play a game w/ them take a walk with them...

Love Ya!!! I give you a real hug Saturday. ((((Hugs))))

(hey if it makes you feel any better I ate a big peice of choc cake last night and it was good. :) )

Concentrate not on how much you have to lose but on the accomplishment of how much you DID lose. It's time to refocus and get healthy foods back in the house. PLAN your meals and take it one meal at a time and you'll be back on a losing streak.

Thanks everyone! I so appreciate the encouragement. I am going to go grocery shopping this weekend and will buy the right things and will make sure I get in all the Protein and Water I need. I need to start seeing the scale move again and to make myself proud again. I am very proud I have lost the 50 pounds, thanks for saying that. It does lift me up and I do say look at what you have accomplished. Last year at this time I was in Vegas and could hardly handle all that walking up and down the strip so we had to take Taxi's. I am sure if I went to do it now, I would do great. Thanks for the encouragement.

I love you girls!

Angie

Don't let the nutritionist beat you up to much.....I need to refocus more too. I think I've resorted to eating crap because I KNOW it will go down. I've had so much trouble with solid earlier in the day lately. But what is funny, I ate the insides of a whopper jr yesterday and didn't get stuck. So I too need to journal and make healthier choices again. I need to walk the line. I'm going to make copies of my journal sheet today, want me to bring you one on Saturday?

Sure that would be awesome. What time are we meeting and its up in University right? I so need to crack down it isnt funny. My friend Mike that I know is going on a cruise ship to sing for three months and when people arent going to be around for a while it kind of motivates me and I say hey I can lose a possible 15 to 30 pounds by the time he gets back so I need to focus. So thank you Melissa and the Nutrionist program is over for me, well I had one more time to go but didnt make it because I had no gas in my car. :paranoid So I need to make an appointment for my last time around.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
