I don't know if anyone out there used to/is a big holiday baker but I always made tons of holiday Cookies and passed them out (the ones that didn't add 10 lbs to my gut every holiday.) My cooworkers are asking me when I'm bringing in buckeyes but I just take a deep breath and smile, "Sorry, guys. This year I'm not making cookies because I can't get them out of the house quick enough so you're on your own." I've gotten some resistance but who will have the last laugh...me! So far, down 15 lbs in the past month by eating every 2-3 hrs and I have cut out allllll fast food (I don't consider Chipotle fast food but I eat 1/3 of a veg bowl instead of eating all of it at once.) Energy level up. Making sleep a priority since I work part time night shift and have totally irregular sleeping. Must get going to the rec center where I plan to rock out on the elliptical machine. Happy Tues to all.

Christmas Cookies are a HUGE part of my holiday tradition. I went ahead and made/ and making them still. They have not been a temptation for me as I have my goal first and foremost in my mind. For me it just would not be Cmas with out the baking.

I haven't been sleeved yet so I want to avoid the temptation. Next year should be different for me. One day at a time....

Cheryl you will be in awe of the new control you will have over your temptation monster. I am still new to the sleeve, but I feel like I have been given and increadible freedom over the hunger that I used to battle with every day! It is very liberating. When are you due to be sleeved??

Hopefully I'll be sleeved in March or April 2011. I can't even imagine what it would be like not to crave eating all those Cookies, especially at the holidays. Thanks for letting me know there is life without devouring sweets.

You are wise to keep them out of your house! I just did a cookie exchange yesterday (I made fudge all week...and yes I kept taking little bites here and there) But it is amazing how much control the sleeve gives you. I have an entire house full of about 11 different homemade treats, plus left over birthday cake from my DD's 10th bday party this weekend, and a ton of Christmas candy floating around. I have had one bite of one treat today, and it's 3pm here. Before it would have been me sampling from each plate, plus all the kinds of candy all in one day. It is so great to have control over food!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
