Gabby... what can't you take liquid Advil??? I know that you can't take it if you have the RNY gastric bypass but was told there weren't really any medication restrictions?

I miss hot food and cold drinks. I miss food being my reward for everything. I miss not thinking about what I was eating and just stuffing myself with whatever. I miss decadence.

I love to cook and I love to feed people and I used to love to eat. I throw away so much food and really dislike eating left overs because I have them constantly now. I feel so much guilt about wasting food and money on food that some days its just easier to be hungry. I miss what I thought was normal.

I don't miss the 35lbs I've lost since being banded. I don't love my band yet, but I think we might be getting used to each other...a little bit.

Jean,

I so know what you mean. I have been having a love/hate relationship with mine lately. I guess I have been depressed about my work lately and I can't drown myself in food. I have gained some weight lately too for no reason which has been a little depressing too

That is interesting what you said about not being able to eat hot food and cold drinks. Since I had my 3rd adjustment I can only eat food when it is cold or at least luke warm. I didn't know why I could eat certain foods certain times and not others, and then realized I could only eat them when they were not hot. (This tends to be a problem when you go out to eat---I was having to order salad all the time) My husband has the opposite problem (He has been banded too)

Again, I appreciate your honesty in your post

What is the hardest thing? For me it is wanting to continue eating after I am full. I sometimes feel panicky when I can't eat more. I have been suffering uncharaciteristic anxiety since my banding. It gets quite bad sometimes and I had to get some medication to help me cope with it. It's really difficult because I was formerly a very fearless person. I'm working it through with my shrink and am hopeful I can put fear and anxiety in it's place! I would not take back the 50 pounds I have lost for anything.

It looks like most of the people that were on this thread from 2004 are no longer on the forum. I always wonder what happened? Did they get discouraged because they didn't succeed as well as they'd like and so disappeared or did they have fabulous success and just want to leave all of this behind because they are WAY too busy living their lives. I sincerely hope it's the latter.

I actually haven't lost weight in a while so, I don't want to be a "Debbie downer" I just thought I would check out the site lately since my anniversary was coming up.

I still don't like chewing my food down to sludge. It loses it's flavor and feels icky in my mouth. I can't stand it, but I do it so I don't suffer with the flaming golfball later.

I hear ya Aubrie. Especially hamburger and beef for some reason because you always feel like you are down to an "unidentified object" in the end.

It used to be that when I was sad, mad, glad, happy, tired, lonely, bored, horny, frustrated, nervous...I ate. Now, I have to feel these things. I miss stuffing them down with a bag of chips or a few bowls of Cereal.

Megan

Thanks for such an honest reponse. I can totally relate.

And you give me encouragement because you are doing it another way. I hope I can do the same thing after 9/12.

I completely understand what you are saying. It's not like this is some magic pill. A lot of us have issues to deal with. I am so glad you are doing the counseling. I am doing the same thing. (I'll be banded on 9/12)

Just recently I have experieced some anxiety and that alone with cause anxiety. lol

Anyways, I wish you luck and I know you can do this. I'm going to do it with you.

Dear Speck-I know we can get through the rough parts. It means so much to have people who understand. When I feel panicky I get "That Look" from my husband and I want to cry. I certainly wouldn't act so stressed out if I could help it. Anyway, there are lots of good things about the band and the weight keeps going down! I shall Celebrate the positive.

You have been planning the band for a while I see. September will be here before you know it. Good luck with your surgery. It's the easy part!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
