HELP! Is it possible to stall so early

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on November 18th and lost 15 pounds in the first 13 days. Now the scale hasn't moved in 3-4 days and I'm freaking out. I know I shouldn't weigh myself daily and confession here.....it's more 8-10 times a day. I am drinking (Dr wants full liquids for 6 weeks) 400 calories per day and I am getting my 60 grams of Protein. I am also doing between 30-45 minutes of cardio (stationary bike) daily.

Did anyone else experience this. Based on the math of calories in and calories expended, I should be losing 6 pounds per week.

Why only 400 a day? Every thing I read and have been told 7 to 800 a day is the norm. Did you have a hernia or something repaired that requires liquids for so long?

I'm in the same boat. I was sleeved on November 15 and lost a lot that first week . My scale hasn't moved in almost a week. So frustrated!

I lost 21 lbs in the first 11 days and then nothing for a couple of weeks after that. Then I started losing again. Your body is going through major trauma right now and needs to adjust. Six weeks is a long time to be on full liquids - I was only on them for 11 days - but each surgeon is different. At only 400 calories your body is in starvation mode and it will be hard to lose. But just keep doing what the doc tells you - the weight WILL come off!!! The sleeve works for sure, I can tell you that!

Ditto here too!! Sleeved on the 15th, lost 16lbs in the first two weeks and now the scale hasn't moved :( It is frustrating but I just try to keep telling myself that my body WILL adjust!!! I didn't gain the weight overnight and I'm not going to lose it overnight either!!!

It happened to me too and let me tell you, "This Too Shall Pass!"

During my second and third week after surgery I fluctuated between the same three pounds for TWO WEEKS!! It was so frustrating. I only wish I had take my measurements during that time because, I know I lost a lot of inches during this time. Once I FINALLY started losing again, I also have become obsessed with weighing myself. I am so afraid it is going to go back up!!

I think our bodies go through shock. We did have major surgery and we are eating a fraction of what we did before. It is a HUGE adjustment both mentally and physically. It took me a while to figure this out.

I sounds like you are doing all of the right things. My advice is to be patient, (as hard as this is!) be kind to your body and before long you will be a big time loser.

Congratualtions on your surgery and good luck on your journey!!

No hernia, that's just my doc's standard. He says he wants the time for the stomach to heal. I don't mind it either, it's easy to mix some Protein powder into skim milk. I'm not usually hungry, so it's no big deal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
