KabinKitty 11 Posted December 4, 2010 My surgeon's office called me this week to let me know that they were resubmitting all my information to Anthem. They got an email from Anthem, informing them that they now cover the Sleeve as a stand alone surgery! They usually get word from Anthem within 2 weeks. I asked how far out she was scheduling surgeries and she said she just scheduled the first one for February. It's been a long wait and I had almost given up hope that I would ever get to have surgery. I'M SO HAPPY!!!

KabinKitty 11 Posted December 12, 2010 Thanks for the good wishes. I'm still waiting to hear anything from the surgeon's office. In 3 days it will be 2 weeks since my paperwork was submitted. Anyone else in Ohio that recently got approved by BC/BS? I would love to hear from you!

Mine did not allow for the sleeve when I first started researching, but I decided this was the only way to go, so I was willing to wait. Lo and behold right after I got back from vacation in July, I checked their website and they just started covering it!. (I have BCBS of TX). I really think that as the companies do their research and see that this operation is less difficult than the bypass and with fewer complications than the bypass or the band, they will be coming on board pretty fast. Best wishes to you on your journey!
