Virgin Sleever needs help

Recommended Posts

I have never, ever, posted in this type of atmosphere. So please pardon any ignorance on my part. I want to have the Plication procedure done, but the women from Dr. Rodriguez office in TJ Mexico said I would be happier with the sleeve. Would I ? The plication is where they fold the stomach in and suture it up and it creates a band effect. It is new, less expensive than the sleeve, no cutting away of the stomach and no leakage issues. Has anyone had this done? Does anyone who has the sleeve wish they had done a different procedure, and if so, which one? I am totally excited about having WLS done, and I feel mentally and emotionally ready for the change. I have not always been obese, never really was overweight until five years ago, then I got depressed, like seriously. Never was a depressed person before that either. So depression and coupled with Ben and Jerry’s and A LOT of fast food, I turned into a someone who was like a junkie for food. CRAZY. Now I am altogether better, but the struggle with my mental health, left a gift behind, 150 pound gift!!! so enough about me....PLEASE tell me about the surgery and pass on any sage advice you can give a virgin. LOL

I have a sleeve, and would not have any other surgery type. I had a band before my sleeve. I've minimally researched the plication surgery, but honestly, it's just not something I would have considered. I never even thought of my band as a reversible surgery. I wanted that stomach tissue gone for good. What good had it done for me? NONE.

I'm perfectly ecstatic with my sleeve, and no one could pay me to have a different surgery. It's a personal choice, and I would recommend doing major research. There's others here that have had the plication with a couple of different surgeons. There is an entire sub-forum on here under the main forum page for the plication and I bet there are some good topics there for reference.

Best wishes in your research.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
