ANY FEBRUARY SLEEVERS

Recommended Posts

I go in January for a pre-op. I will need my gall bladder removed, band to VSG revision. I am hoping (pretty certain) for a February date. Dr. Blaney in Augusta will be doing mine.

That's wonderful we can take off running and jump into the losers bench together

Hey guys and gals! I will be having my surgery on Feb 7 with Dr. Roslin in NY. I am scared and excited all at the same time. My biggest fear is not being able to eat like I do now. But then again thats what got me to 276 pounds in the first place. I'm looking forward to being healthy and fit. Tired of being called the big girl with the pretty face. Well I wish everyone the best of luck and see you guys on the looser's bench.

February 14 with Dr. Aceves. Valentine's Day gift is the sleeve instead of a box of chocolates.

I just got my date today... I'll be getting sleeved on Feb 23 provided I can really get my butt into gear. I quit smoking 4 months ago and instead of losing weight, I gained 10 pounds. If I can be really committed this month, I will be sleeved in Feb. I'm going to do this! Best of luck to everyone.

I think my mom and I will do the same. I'd love to go to the zoo, but we probably won't have time. I have my job to do on Thursday morning so after the flight it'll be probably late afternoon. My mom, aunt and cousin all had lap bands so I kinda know what to expect, but man am I scared!!!! And excited!! And nervous!!! How about you?

Ridiculously nervous, but definitely excited. My mom is 5 years out from her RNY, so she's been really supportive about everything. So excited to get down there and get it done. It sounds ridiculous, but at this point my biggest concern is waking up with a catheter still in! lol...

I'm also hoping that my flights are booked correctly. As I understand we'll spend 1 night in the hospital and 2 in the recovery house. I used that as my gauge and booked our flight back home on the 28th. Is that what you did as well?

I am just starting the process for the sleeve surgery. It has been recommended to me by my Dr. I am around 400 lbs +/-. I have no idea because I don't have a scales that goes that high. So far I am healthy other than I can not walk very much without getting winded or my back hurting. So when I go grocery shopping or whatever I have to lean on a cart to keep my back from hurting. Obviously, I don't shop much especially if it entails a lot of walking. I do not exercise either so I am pretty weak. I have my first seminar and Dr. appt on Jan. 13th. I have the support from everyone in my family with the exception of my husband. So far he is refusing to go to the seminar with me or to even be receptive to the idea of me having the surgery. In 40 years of being very happily married I have never gone against his wishes. I wonder if anyone else has met with this problem and how you handled it? I am not sure I am strong enough to go against him and get the surgery without his support. I had a hysterectomy about 4 1/2 years ago and they almost lost me on the table and I know that is what he is thinking now so I understand his situation. But if I don't do something fast about my weight I could die from a heart attack too. Anyway, if anyone has had this problem please let me know how you handled it.

I think that's right. When my mom had the lapband she stayed in San Diego for the night they got back. She said it made such a huge difference because she was so tired and sore just from the ride into san Diego. I think I'll probably do the same. I haven't booked my flights yet as my passport is taking forever to get done!!!! Soooo frustrating!! Do you have to fly far? I'm from Vancouver Canada. So only a 3-ish hour flight. Not too bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
