benefits of the acai berry

Recommended Posts

I have been studying the Acai berry for quite a while now and the benefits are very remarkable. First of all it is a super antioxident as well as a energy booster. There have been documented stdies of this berry increasing metabolism as well as helping the body decrease fat and increase muscle mass with exercise. Ok you folks know what you can and can't take so here is my question.. What are your thoughts on this and if it is such a energy increaser is it suitable for our needs. I would be willing to take this with my surgeons approval just for the health benefits of the berries..But like I said I don't know if you could even take this suppliment..Any thoughts???

Its a berry so I do not see any harm. You can also get antioxidant help from blue berries and other blue/red fruits and some green/red veggies. Although Acai has the most potential as an antioxidant. Check with your doctor or nut.

Thanks for the reply I feel like if it approved by doc it would be a good to be a experiment. The worst thing that could happen is you are making your body more healthy.. Guess that is what we are all here for. Who know if theses do give you energy for those that have low energy days it might even help them out.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
