myrori 55 Posted November 29, 2010 I am 5 days post op, no matter what I drink or eat (jello) no matter how small a sip or large I get this pain. It happens about 30 seconds after I swallow. It feels like there is a large contraction in my abdomen the I hear a gurgle and the pain then dissipates.
FlyGirl 18 Posted November 29, 2010 I was having the same thing happen to me for about the first 10 days. Baby sip, pain, gurgle gurgle, tiny burp. I didn't think it was every going to stop, but it did. Just give it some more time.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted November 29, 2010 Sounds like you're having spasms. Try drinking something warm first to relax everything inside.
Dansha 16 Posted November 29, 2010 I agree with Oregondaisy. Try drinking something warm. I am 3 1/2 months out and every morning I drink Decaf tea just to relax my insides. Try it ......you might like it!!!! Deb
butterjofletcher 0 Posted December 1, 2010 I was having this same sensation/pain the first week or 2 after surgery and I noticed, when I took my leak test that when I sipped the barium stuff, the top of my stomach (right where it meets the esophagus) was moving when I got those pains. I don't know if it was a spasm, or just the normal movement of the stomach. My Dr. nor the radiology guy said anything about it, other than everything was perfectly normal. Also, the more it moved, the more air came up from my stomach and I could literally see a burp moving through the barium. I learned that it was when something entered my sleeve that it gave me that little twinge and also the liquid filling my sleeve that made the burp come up. I'm 3 weeks out now and I can't even feel it anymore. I can't pinpoint when it stopped exactly, but It was somewhere around 10 days to 2 weeks out so this should start to get better pretty soon. Good Luck!

AMG 0 Posted March 4, 2011 Anymore comments? The next day after surgery, I had a leak test done which came back negative. Then they gave me chicken broth and water; I couldn't sip anything at all. I had a sever pain every time I sipped Water. I felt a pain as the Water tries to enter the stomach and the pain continues as the water moves through the sleeve. The doctor came to see me the next day and said my sleeve was probably so swollen and he ordered a 30-minute of IV steroid. Things got better and I was discharged from the hospital. Now, for the past 2 days I'm feeling what others had felt. Every time I sip liquids, I feel as FlyGirl described "sip, pain [it's mainly discomfort me for me], gurgle gurgle, tiny burp".
