steeler 3 Posted November 28, 2010 Just curious, do you know what % of your stomach was removed? I see many people say their doctor removed 85%; however, I was reading in a notebook my doctor sent me home with that he removes 75% of the stomach. Anyone know what difference this can make? I wonder if this can affect the amount of food you eat?

I am going to ask him when I go for my check up this week.

I wonder if this can affect the amount of food you eat? Our "group" was told at the seminar that he removes approx. 85% of the stomach, that we'd be left with a 3 oz tummy. I have a copy of the surgical notes and he did a size 32 bougie.
AmMatthew 35 Posted November 29, 2010 My doc says I was left with a 3 oz stomach. Not everyone starts with the same size stomach, so in order to be sized to the relatively standard 32f or 36f bougie, then it would be a different percentage for everyone. laylasmojo 10 Posted November 29, 2010 Everyones stomach is differet sizes tobegin with so what you are left with is based on what size bougie they use. So I think they just average it out to 75-85%
emilygrace 5 Posted November 30, 2010 The final size also depends not only upon the bougie size used, but also how tight the surgeon wraps and sutures it.
