I just went out and bought some new pj's to wear around the house for the first few days. And also for the day I am out of surgery. I get to stay in the hospital then a few days at the guest house in Mexico. I also bought myself a brand new pair of flip flops. They are all I wear cause I am here in Florida, but I got a pair of burn out your eyes sunshine yellow to keep my spirits high. LOL

I also bought a bunch of new panties. cheap ones. From Walmart. 88 cents each. and cotton. I have found every single time I go into the hospital for ANYTHING my panties get something on them. (no it isn't loss of bladder control) I am just not taking any chances of ruining the nice panties I own anymore LOL I also bought new terry cloth slippersocks for comfort when walking around the hospital and guest house.

SLIPPER SOCKS! MEDIUM! (quick...who knows what movie that is from? LOL)

I wore the largest pair of shorts and blouse I could find....wasn't sure where the incisions were going to be and wanted to save myself any pain that I could lol

I live less than 2 miles from the hospital, so the ride home was easy, and the car had seat belt extender so I was covered there.

Comfy is definitely the way to go.....cuz you belly is gonna be swollen and if your shirt is snug, it might be uncomfortable.

For the ride home I wore leggings, which I had to push down some away from my belly in the front (I don't own sweats), the softest tee shirt I own, and a thin sweater over that. Plus I have some slippers that have rubber soles, which I also wore. I did wear a bra but it is designed like a regular bra but the fabric is all jersey knit/spandex, like a sports bra. I also had my ride home bring a blanket and pillow for me. The blanket I put over my abdomen for when put my seatbelt on. My ride was 1-1/2 hours so it was a much needed comfort.

Thanks again for all the answers and ideas!

I did buy a cool pair of slippers, they are like fuzzy flip-flops, very soft and comfy, that I'll probably wear. Right now, I'm just wondering how I'm going to make it to Aug 31st, I'm so anxious to have this done.

How exciting! It will be here before you know it! I was on pins and needles waiting for my surgery date, and now it's come and gone and my head is still spinning.

Congrats on your banding!

I know before long I'll be posting about how it all went. And really, getting the date and all went quickly. It's been in the back of my mind for a while now. DH was banded almost 2 years ago, and I said at the time we just couldn't afford to have me done as well. Our insurance flat-out excludes any WLS. But I've been thinking about it, and he had been too. In May, we were in Hawaii and at one point we were climbing some stairs, and he looked back at me and said "I think you should get banded". I agreed, and 2 weeks later I had my date set. I would do it tomorrow, but my boss reminds me that summer is our busy time...

Summer is our slow time, fall the busiest. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference come September. The business that I'm in requires me to go to convention centers and hotels to walk tradeshow floors seeing clients and possibly new clients. Everyone else here is a size 2 (no joke) and I hate being on the floor sweating and waddling around. September is when it gets really busy and I can't wait to see how I do!! :P

Use the time you have to say your goodbyes to foods and prepare yourself mentally for the restricted diet that will follow. That will help you so much! Start stocking up on Protein drinks. Cheaper to buy it in spurts rather than to have to buy a lot of it at one time. Just my little bit of advice.

It will be fun to see how you fare this fall!

I've quit snacking between meals. Cut out sweets. Now working on what I eat at meals. I'd really like to lose the 10-15 pounds my surgeon wants me to without having to do the liquid diet, I have the time.

Good suggestions, thanks.

Hi, I wore baggy black jammy pants, a baggt tank top and baggy sweatshirt and flip flops. Slip on shoes are good so you dont have to bend over...no undies, why bother?

I wore that home too but with no bra. My surgery was 3 days ago and I havent wore my bra since. Ive beeen in jammies ever since I got home.

I think I will try to get dressed today.

You have the right attitude. I gained 5 pounds between my initial consult and surgery date. ONE "last supper" is okay, but I think I pushed the envelope a bit.

Oh yeah, the "Last Supper Syndrome". I've had a few episodes of that. Right now, I weigh what I did on my consult day, which was June 14th.

Good ideas. I didn't plan to stay the night after surgery but had to and I didn't have a change of clothes, nightgown, etc. It is very unlikely, but you might want to take a few things JUST in case you have to stay the night. My list would have been: change of underware, nightgown, toleitries and my own pillow, something to read, cell phone.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
