What did you wear on surgery day?

Recommended Posts

Mine will be at the NWWLS clinic as well, Dr. Montgomery. Late August if possible, so it could still be warm.

We are lucky, we live close by but the pillow is still a good idea.

I wore jeans and was OK. They werent very tight and were fairly low rise. I wore them home the next day.

loose shorts and t-shirt....no bra ....slip on sandals, and i had a big squisshy pillow for the ride home too. The seat belt could hurt your incisions.

I wore comfy Tshirt, PJ bottoms, and pink fuzzy slippers. I wanted to just wear the slippers but my mom said that was inappropriate.

Those parents, I tell ya! Always wanting to take all the fun away.:heh:

I bought an awesome Tinkerbell pj set that the pants were a little big on me. The shirt was comfortable but because of the swelling it was a little snugger than I though, LOL. I wore elastic waist pants and a hoodie home and I did wear my bra which I bought brand new, LOL. As soon as I got home I got back into my pj's :)

I wore a loose dress in, but brought my robe and slippers with me in case I was super sore afterwards... and well, I left in my robe and slippers :) I was outpatient too. Any loose clothes will do for most people, I was unusually/extra sore supposedly.

If I could do it all again I would have brought much bigger underpants....not just for leaving the hospital but for the weeks after as well. I went home commando and sent my mom straight to Target for the biggest granny pants ever....and just the other day I threw them all away! ;)

I went home in a camisole and a loose dress. I also cut one inch slits down the sides of several pairs of painties. Took the scissors to a few old bras (at the sides). Amazing how much better I feel "free".

My surgery is June 20th. I went out tonight and got some cute tropical looking PJ shorts with elastic waist, a really loose fiting knit top and some matching flip-flops.... Normally, I wouldn't go anywhere in shorts, but I figured what the heck!!! I'm not sure if I'll have to spend the night or not. My surgery was suppose to be the first one in the morning, but I found out today that I got bumped to 0900.... I'm not going to complain. It took me a year to get to this point. I'm not going to quibble over a couple of hours.

Banded in February so I wore a sweatshirt type material outfit. The pants had an elastic waist and were very comfy so the incisions didn't hurt. Don't wear anything tight fitting!

Well, my surgery is in about 8 hours from now. I plan on wearing my house coat over a baggy tshirt and shorts with comfy house shoes. Its all about the comfort level.

I didn't come home the day of surgery, but flew home 2 days later. Since I was flying, and obviously out in public for extended periods of time, I had to dress!!! I wore some french terry cloth tie waist pants, and a loose shirt. I also had to wear a bra, I was afraid if I didn't, I would turn around and knock out a flight attendant or something!!! In the end, the bra was the worst, and my pants did not matter in the least, my incisions were so high, I could have worn snug jeans and not mattered. But the top half mattered. 5 hours in a plane, then 5 more by car, I was sore! I actually took the tiny pillow from the plane with me, and used it in the car too, between me and the seatbelt. Even with all this, it was not that bad, I had one shot of ES liquid Tylenol that day is all. You will all do fine, will be thinking of you!!

WEll, my surgery is in about 4 hours. I'm just wearing my favorite pair of old worn out jeans and t shirt. Hopefully the bra won't be a major issue. Since I live in the town where I'm having surgery, I'm not too worried about the ride home. A little nervous but ready to start this new life that I'm starting today!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
