*susan* 1,709 Posted November 27, 2010 I am presently doing the couch to 5k program. I like it because I start off slow and easy and work my way up. It is working well for me.
BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted November 27, 2010 I did a few 5Ks and 10Ks before the surgery. I just tried to run as much as I could rather than do one of those run-walk programs. I would end up walking a bit during my races, but still finished with a decent time (30 min 5K). Give yourself at least 3-4 weeks to train if you've never run before. a.walker 2 Posted December 15, 2010 I'm doing the couch to 5k program as well. I suck at running and I hate it, but I'm hopeful that I can change that. Here's the program I am doing http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
juliarh 35 Posted December 15, 2010 I'm doing the C25k as well -- it took me forever to get the ability to run week one, but now I"m loving it. They also have a 5k run training page as well (different than the Couch to 5 k) -- I think they recommend that you are able to run 15 - 20 miles per week for 6 months before running a 5 k -- but since I've never run one (yet!), I don't know if this is uber conservative or not . . .
