Surgery this past Wednesday

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Wednesay and the only pain I have is on my lower right side, which I don't really understand. I would expect pain on the left side where the stomach was removed, but the right? When I'm sitting it's fine, but if I'm walking/standing, ouch, it hurts! The right side is also where the drain is located, so maybe there is a connection??

Has anyone else experienced this? I appreciate your input. Thanks in advance!

Could be the drain. That was where I had the worst pain. If it continues, call your doctor but it could well be related to the drain. I was surprised to see how long the tube was when the nurse took mine out.

Hey candy, i had surgery on the 17th and had the drain removed at about a week not as lucky as you, both sides hurt like hell but when the drain came out I felt a big difference on that side. The drain was way longer than I had expected! Call your doctor just to be sure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
