HI! I had surgery with his partner Dr Ramiro "Sonny" Cavazos I don't know about Dr. Gonzales, but Dr. Cavazos is excellent. . .Dr. Gonzalez assisted him. . . since they work in the same place, I'm sure Dr. Cavazos would probably assist him too. . but they have had a perfect work record, no leaks, no complications, nothing . . . I had the best experience with their office staff and with the hospital stay. . (I was self pay) if you go with Texas Center for Surgical Weight Loss you will be VERY happy . . .

Dr. JJ Gonzales did my sleeve in November. Dr. Cavazos and Dr. Gonzales are the best doctors you will find in San Antonio to do this procedure. They both work out of the same office and they both assist each other in surgery. I also work with them in the Operating Room as a surgical technologist doing vertical sleeves and gastric bypass along with several other Bariatric doctors. They give VIP care to every single patient they have. They are great, everything always goes smooth and they test for leaks during the surgical case and after. I trust them with my life!!! I Love my Sleeve

Thanks for the information all4me. Did you have your surgery at Foundations surgical hospital? My surgery is set for January 25th. I am excited and nervous. Did you have to do the 2 week pre-op diet?

I appreciate any additional information you can give me about the surgery or process.

I hope you are doing well and are having speedy recovery.

Yes I had it done at foundation and I also work there. I did do the preop diet. The diet really helps the case go smooth because if your liver is fatty it is allot harder to get to your stomach and you increase your risk for complications.

Everything was really easy for me and this was the first major surgery I have ever had. The worst pain I had was the IV site. It helps working with them every Tuesday so I always ask a ton of questions. The doctors are great you made a good choice!

Hi. I'm a Dr Cavazos patient too. He is such a kind, gentle man. Great bedside manner. Dr Gonzalez's patients I've talked to at support group have only good things to say about him. I had my surgery at the end of June at age 62 and it went great. The care at Foundation hospital by nursing staff was excellent! The preop nurse was great, too. I was so nervous. She really helped me relax. Also since the hospital was founded for bariatric surgery it is bariatric friendly design-wise. Good luck. Maybe see you in support group before long! Oh re your question. I had a friend go home from hospital with me Thursday when I was released. She was going to stay until Sunday but it was clear by Friday night I didn't need her for the weekend. I has the month off (in education) but I could have gone back to work for sure in two weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
