Has anyone come across a good list for things to buy and stock pre-op so that when we get back we have what we need. I ran to the store today and added some things not sure if this is all correct but so far here is what I have in a little corner of my pantry and if you can add some things I should get that you have enjoyed to help me get through I would really appreciate it.

Chicken Broth

Rositas refried fat free black beans

Coconut water

Sugar Free Jello

Frozen vegetables(I am going to boil and make a great pureed Soup and freeze)

Sugar Free Popsicles

I have my Multi Vitamins and Nioxin, I know I will need sub lingual B12 and Calcium correct?

Should I get some PJs that allow me to shower easier I am not sure how soon before I can wear my regular clothes due to drains and such.

biggrin.gifThank you!!!

Greek yogurt-higher in Protein and lower in carbs than other yogurt. If you buy any unflavored, you'll need some sf syrups like Davinchi. chobani yogurt is really good if you can find it . Not all stores carry it. All the flavors are good.

K20 Kellogs Protein Water is handy. You'll need lots of fluids.

I wasn't sent home with a drain and I just wore a night gown in the hospital. I liked using chap stick a lot. You'll need gas x too. Have a heating pad handy cause if you get gas pains, you'll need it.

I found the Gas X strips to be so important. I also had adult extra strength liquid tylenol, which helped me get off the pain meds very quickly. The Protein powder is a must, test your flavors and mixes prior to surgery. I like to mix the chocolate into my greek yogurt for a very high Protein meal. Try and pick up some skim milk when you get home.

I've been using Gummy Vitamins, Calcium, and Omega. It actually feels like a little candy cheat. Get yourself some good trashy magazines, it's a little boring at the hospital.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
