Liomari 0 Posted November 23, 2010 Hi All I was sleeved 5 days ago in Edinburgh, Scotland. So far things have been text book, no leaking etc, been home for 2 days. i still have pain when i drink (gas coming back up) and am eating tiny amounts of Soup. Im feeling a little bit down, as im pretty hungry, yet can only eat liquids, and when i do i then feel sick and sore.. i know its early days and i guess i just have to wait for the swelling to go down. I do have a few worries that have been going round and round in my head and driving me crazy... its hard to believe ill lose weight as ive been big all my life and i cant imagine myself thin.. so im convinced this wont work and ill have wasted soo much money... i also still have major cravings for chocolate and crisps and right now bread... i know these are head cravings not body ones, but still difficult to get past. it also annoys me that i now think about food all day, which is something i dont want to do... Ive been reading the boards and i guess most people have felt this way too, i just have to be patient... a few questions.. when will i start being able to eat "normally" (albeit much smaller amounts)? I play rollerderby and am worried about not being able to eat enough before a 3 hours session and feeling faint.. any tips for high energy healthy small foods? Do you ever feel "nice and full" or do you just know you are getting full by starting to feel a bit of pain? (as im doing now) thanks Liomari start weight: 315lbs
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted November 24, 2010 Welcome to VST lio!!! Congratulations on your new sleeve as well. The head hunger will always be there. However, I've noticed that the more I stay away from junk foods, the more the cravings tend to disappear. As far as feeling full, well I havent felt true fulness in years now, as I was previously banded. However, no it's not going to be like what you remember. It will be a bit different, but over time you get used to it. That's the best advice I can give you regarding that right now. Hang in there. In time it will be like you never had surgery! M2G 1,836 Posted November 24, 2010 Well, for me head hunger is all I ever have anymore. I don't ever *feel* hungry, so I have to sort of watch the clock. I also keep track of my workouts and what I'm eating here: http://caloriecount.about.com/ You should always focus on Protein...protein, Protein, protein. That will help with any light-headed-ness, etc. While on liquids, Protein drinks are your best friend. As for rollerderby, and playing for 3 hours, I am guessing that your dr. told you to give it up for at least 6 weeks (or longer!) I don't know much about rollerderby but it sounds pretty physically demanding. My surgeon's rules are no workouts until you passed 6 weeks. Walking is the best acceptable workout for post-surgery until you pass the 6 week mark. I think you will just have to pre-plan your meal before (I don't know if you get a time out where you can have some protein, but that is what I would do, bring a cheese stick, or a Protein Bar, shake, something with protein to keep you going during those 3 hours.) 6 weeks is also when my surgeon gives the green light for all types of food, but still doing protein first. At 6 weeks it is 75% protein and 25% complex carbs per meal. Most people follow a high-protein, low-carb diet to help them lose the weight.
