johnna 0 Posted June 17, 2006 My doctor reported that he'd done around 30 lap bands. He is a general surgery doctor at Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, TN (a teaching hospital). His specialty in which he had done thousands of surgeries is major stomach/gastric surgerys...none weight loss related. He was highly recommended as a surgeon and was told in comparison to what he typically does, a lapband was minor to him. He has been very good to work with thus far. I was banded on May 31, 2006. fabfatgrl 10 Posted June 17, 2006 Is he still being proctored??? Any chance you could be one of those surgeries?? That way, a more experienced surgeon would be there to assist. How experienced is he with laprascopic surgery??? That's what I would wonder... more than with other WLS. However, in general, the magic number for Band surgeries is 50. That's when the whole learning curve levels off.
