Crabadams72 20 Posted November 23, 2010 Hello, Just dropping by to say hello. I am in the very begining stages of getting approved for the Sleeve and I am hoping to learn as much as possible before I make this move. I lost my mother last year to Diabetes. She struggled with the disease for 20 years and always struggled with her weight. I have seen my weight balloon up to my current high of 247 pounds over the last 10 years. This has to stop before it kills me. I have willpower, dedication and drive but my body likes to hold on to weight like crazy. I am hoping this procedure is the boost that I need. LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted November 23, 2010 Welcome to VST crabadams!!! So far, for me the sleeve has been the answer to all my volume eating. I can only eat about 3-4 oz in one sitting (though I'm only a bit over 2 months out) - and should stretch up to no more than 6 oz. That for me incredible!!! I used to be banded and my band couldn't keep me from eating even a little bit more than I should. I love my sleeve!!! You are right to want to do all you can to prevent the diabetes. That is a terrible disease, and especially if it runs in your immediate family - you need to take extra special precautions. Take a look around and read all you can. Ask questions, get to know what you are planning to do to yourself. It's not all roses and romance... but it's worth it FOR SURE!!!

Called the surgeon’s office today, I was told that my file is ready to be submitted to the insurance company for approval, and it can take up to six weeks!!! I am patiently waiting don’t know what to expect, I have my fingers crossed!!!
M2G 1,836 Posted November 24, 2010 Welcome! My mom also was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and while she doesn't weigh as much as me (and she is much shorter too) I've seen her weight battles all her life. I was not diabetic and am hoping to reverse a family trend towards it. The sleeve is truly the best weight-loss tool I have ever used!
