Interesting BMI calculator uses male/female/age

Recommended Posts

Thanks for sharing -- it's interesting, after looking at both of them, I still think that my initial goal of 165 (I'm 5'9", age 46) is about right -- the initial BMI calculator put me at 183 (which is the preferred weight for average people) which I think is WAY too high, but put the preferred weight for my husband at 162 (we're the same height) -- 20 pounds more for a woman!! I think I'm just sticking with getting into normal BMI territory -- otherwise it becomes too confusing

Cool! Thanks for posting. My dr. recommended weight is 150 (I'm 5'6") and the fun one said 175 (which is exactly what I weighed in H.S.) I can't even picture myself at 150lbs. I think I was about 15 years old last time I weighed that.

But as I've been telling people, I didn't do surgery to go half-way to goal, or 3/4 way to goal...I DO want to get to goal and have that healthy BMI. Just gotta stick to it!

OK ... this "may" quality for a NSV. I"m in the 10% percentile for height, weight, and age. WOW!!! Need to try the fun one next.

Awesome!!!

Actually, it helps put things in perspective for me. I keep thinking that maybe I should go for 125 since I have a small frame & still have some "bad" areas. Though, I've heard from others that I may be mistaking fat for excess skin - not sure on that one.

Definitely made me feel good today!

It's a snow day here in Western Washington. I'm telecommuting in my sweats - LOVE IT!

It told me at my goal weight of 145 (thats my personal keep it curvy goal) I am still in the 50th percentile. If I wanted to be in the 10% I would have to weigh like 115 pounds. YIKES. lol

I think I still have curves (just no boobs or butt - nice little "pooch" though. I guess it's because I'm in my 40's that my percentile is so low. :o

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
