WW and the band

Recommended Posts

I noticed on my other thread, several of you mentioned following Weight Watchers with the band. If so, how have you altered it to fit with the band lifestyle? I did WW for over a year and lost a lot of weight, but I'm not sure how it would work with the band. I'm assuming you have to adjust the amount of points you eat, otherwise I wouldn't think you'd be able to eat all your points for the day, you'd have to eat non-stop! I know for my weight I'd get about 30 pts for the day, plus the extra 35 flex pts. That seems like a lot when you can only eat a cup at a time. Or do you follow the Core plan rather than the Flex?

I don't have a lot of restriction, so I can eat all of my points. :) Now, when I was super tight, I don't think I could have unless I drank melted butter. But these days, normal points no problem. I actually think WW and the Band are a good combo... as one can work with both so that one doesn't have to rely solely on fills for compliance... but should still feel rather full.

One thing I've always wondered is whether or not to credit myself points if I PB. LOL Some days, I do...others I'll give myself 1/2.

Yup, they work great together. I try to ignore flex points and bonus exercise points...keep it simple, just shoot for 22-25 points a day. That's alot in the beginning, but if I'm not careful, I WILL go over. Bad snack choices are my problem areas. I'm not doing meetings and weigh-ins, etc., just occasionally adding up points to get myself back on track...eyeballing it. I'd do MUCH better if I'd be more careful. WW is very flexible, though. Once you are banded and past the healing phase, you'll know better what to do. Some folks are super tight, some need several fills as soon as possible to really get going. When you find out where you fit in on the spectrum, you'll be able to count points easily. Make it fit you.

I can eat my points without drama, in fact I STILL find it hard to stick to, lol. I have to choose low point foods or I'd easily get to 30 + a day and I'm supposed to have 22.

Of course that's the whole point. I havent needed to "diet" in any sense of the word so far, just eating less has made the weight fall away. But that easy ride appears to have stopped now, so I'm trying to stick to 20 points a day or so. Some days it probably doesnt matter if I go over a bit since I run 5 times a week and I dont in general count my bonus exercise points, I just dont fuss when I have a special dinner out or want some choccie on the weekend.

Weight Watchers is a good healthy no nonsense program. And its versatile - you can indeed make it low carb if that's the way you like to eat.
