Things that make you go Hmmm...

Recommended Posts

Okay, don't you think that after enduring 15-20 years of obesity, endless sleepless nights, seeking out a surgeon and a relatively new weight-loss procedure, 3 WEEKS of opti-fast, abdominal surgery, not being able to eat, wondering if your doing aright........losing 38 pounds......that if someone noticed you have lost weight they would TELL YOU!!!!!!

Apparently, not so. After whining to my family that I seem to be the only one able to tell that I've lost weight, they all said they noticed a different area of my body looking smaller....but were afraid to say anything.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmm:confused: ,

Yup, way to go Cloe.

Yeah, I don't think they were being insensitive; they just didn't know if it was "ok" to say something or to mention it.

Me....I have mixed feelings. People are sort of damned if they do and damned if they don't. Part of me wants ppl to notice and perhaps make a comment and the other part of me doesn't want anyone to say a peep. Not that I think it will jinx it (though I'm sure that is how some ppl feel, Mary!) but omigawd...nooo, don't talk about me...even to my face about this!!! hehe. Plus, I don't want ppl to start making inquiries ("oh, how did you lose the weight" etc etc).

Those who have said something: I sort of shrink up in embarassment and downplay it and change the subject; those who don't say anything, I think...helloooooo!!!

I know it's me...not them. I'm the one with the "issues"!

See what I mean; damned if they do, and damned if they don't!!!!!

:tired

Ya, I guess now that I think about it, your right. My poor husband I'm sure dosent no what to say. For the past 19 years he has had to dance around the subject to protect my feelings, or in case he said the wrong thing, thus never getting sex again....lol.

People don't want to say anything just in case you gain it back. They just don'w know you have thousands of family members on LBT supporting you and that WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

GOOOOOO CLOE!!!:high5:

Its the people who do not see you on a daily basis that will tell you how good you look that you lost weight and then always ask how you did it. Last night I took my wife out to a restaraunt near my office. I had not been there since before my surgery. I sat at my usual table and my usual waiter came to take my order (I only had a bowl of soup). He was shocked at how much I lost! He could not believe it. And ofcourse he asked how I did it. I dont mind telling anyone that I had LB, so i told him. I think he wants to make an appointment with my surgeon.

It's really frustrating because we'd all freak if someone said, hey Buffie, I noticed that your ass is getting bigger! And I guess they just figure our weight issues are SO sensitive that they don't want to add anything at all...when ALL we want to hear is, hey Buffe, I noticed your ass is getting SMALLER!!

The important thing is that YOU feel better and YOU notice!

GOOD JOB and keep up the good work!!!

I know what you mean...On one hand you want to be noticed for your hard work on losing the weight but on the other hand when they do say something it makes you think...."What the hell was wrong with me before?" It makes you have mixed emotions in a way.

WAY TO GO CLOE!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Maybe it's because they don't want you to feel pressured. Like Oooo she knows that we know that she's lost weight...now what if she freaks out and starts gaining it back....I dunno...I always feel pressure when people notice that I've lost weight...cuz what if they next time they see me, I've gained it back plus 10? Then what do they say? It's not like they are going to say..."Sorry the diet didn't work out." But I would know they were thinking it...lol...I agree with Yoda....Damned if they do and damned if they don't. K I'm done...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
