2 Weeks Post Op and I think I am already stalled....

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Nov 1st and lost 13 lbs very quickly in that week. Since then I have only lost two more pounds and even went up a little today. (0.4 lbs) I'm just concerned that I am already stalling out. I weighed 267.2 today. This is the weight I have always been able to get down to but, not any lower. I have not been under this weight in at least 4 years. So, I am hoping that once I am safely past it, it will all be downhill from there. I am praying that it is just my body adjusting. Did anyone else do this!!! I'm so worried that I am doing something wrong.

I don't know if you are doing anything wrong, but I can tell you my experience was exactly the same (I even emailed my NUT and she said I was doing GREAT with everything). Stalls happen all the time and happen to everyone, but that doesn't make them any less frustrating when you experience one.

I had a 10 day stall as soon as I started "mushies" (I think I was about 10 days post-op at that point) and my stall lasted 10 days. AND, it was a weight that I did spend a lot of my adult life at. So I sort of jokingly told my husband, I think this is weight that my body is taking it's sweet time to say goodbye to. But eventually it passed and I started losing again.

HANG IN THERE!

Vicki, I just saw that you asked me about this VERY subject in that post. Sorry I didn't see it earlier. It will pass, I KNOW it will....it is sooooo frustrating to live through and you do start to wonder if you just had a $20K surgery just to lose 10lbs. That you will be THE ONE person who doesn't lose weight after surgery. lol. Hang in there, keep doing everything your surgeon outlines for you and keep drinking that Water and you will see the scale go down again SOON!

Thank You all for your encouragement. I wanted to post back that the "stall" has FINALLY passed! After bouncing between the same three pounds for TWO weeks!!! My weight finally started going down again last Saturday. I was skeptical at first but, I have lost a total of 6 pounds this week. Hallelujah!!!! I feel so much better!!

I wish I would have been taking my measurements during the time of the stall because, even though I was not losing punds, I know I lost several inches. There is NO arguing with my clothing. Everything is very loose. YEAH!!!

I had this surgery as a birthday present to myself. I am so glad I did!! For the first time in over 10 years I feel like I am headed in the right direction and will succeed in losing this weight!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
