Recommended Posts

Hello!!

Congrats on getting into the Options program. No one in my track brought their spouse but I don't see why it would be a problem. Our classes were 90 minutes for 12 weeks and you had to come to every class but if you had to miss a class you could make it up later. They will not give you your authorization for the surgery until you have completed all 12 classes and turned in all of your logs and completed all of your labs and testing. I have learned that each location is different so it may not be the same as what I went through

The classes were 12 weeks for me. You can't speed up the classes (that I'm aware of). I'm sure my hubby could have gone with me and I would have LOVED for him to go with me (but he was not available). It will be here before you know it :).

P.s. you son is precious :)

My classes are in Palmdale, the first night they did tell us we can not bring friends or family to the classes.

They said it's due patient confidentialy laws.

Hi Quuengamez,

I completed Options at the Sunset facility and we were allowed to bring guests. One lady brought her husband to every single class, others brought daughters, sisters, and friends. Check with your faciliator or coordinator. The classes were an hour and a half, and my track was 20 weeks. There was no way for us to speed up and complete the course. If we missed a class, we had to make it up at other locations or with another track (like a cohort). Good luck on your journey!

I agree, I don't think it's a problem. Let us know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
