vonnie150 0 Posted June 13, 2006 EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY LAP BAND 18 MONS AGO I DON'T UNDERSTAND SOME OF THESE TERMS. WHAT IS PB? I SEE THIS ABBREVIATION OFTEN IN POSTINGS. WHERE DOES ALL THIS SLIME COME FROM WHEN I VOMIT?:help:
Wheetsin 714 Posted June 13, 2006 The slime comes from your mouth. Honestly, not being sarcastic. And you're probably not actually vomitting (vomit by definition involves stomach acids), you're PBing. The terminology is ambiguous at best. Here's how I pesonally use the terminology, but it is by no means how others do. PB = Involuntary expulsion through the mouth of a stuck substance, aka "vomiting" (see note above). Sliming = The heavy salivation that usually occurs prior to a PB. Stuck = When something cannot pass through the stoma. A stick can lead to sliming and PB. To some people "PB" covers all three in one. To some "PB" might mean "stuck". There are not set definitions, so there's always an element of ambiguity when we describe our nasty tendencies to each other.
Wheetsin 714 Posted June 13, 2006 I should add, PB = "Productive Burp"... although in my case they're far more miserable than even the worst thing I imagined a "productive burp" could be!
medussa 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Since you are handing out definitions.... I know what a NSV is I just dont know what is stand for....if that makes sense
Wheetsin 714 Posted June 13, 2006 NSV means something you consider to be a victory that's not coming from the numbers on a scale. Things like compliments, getting into smaller clothes, easier mobility, getting off meds, etc. They're related to your weightloss in a broad sense. SV would be something directly related to what your scale says, more like reaching a goal weight or weightloss milestone, or finally crossing out of the 200s and into the 100s. medussa 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Thanks for clearing that up. Just to give you all a chuckle, I honestly thought it stood for Non significant victory. It was killing me every time I read about someone's NVS....I kept wanting to write back saying that "of course that is significant....don't call it non significant.." Glad I never responded!
