Throwng up at night

Recommended Posts

Kashia....I am in the process of having more tests run. I go for an upper GI later this week to check for erosion and slipping. This is the most horrible health problem I've ever had. I wake up 10-12 times a night spitting up acid and regergitated food. My gastro doctor thinks it's the band giving me the problems, but I too have a hiatal hernia so we we continue with testing until I figure out what is causing this horrible problem. I am miserable and would rather be fat than to experience this without a doubt.:)

Phyllis-I know its absolutely horrible. You should see how my bed is set up at night. I have TWO HUGE couch pillow plus my regular pillow to prop me up at night. I still have to get up and go to the couch most of the time and try sleeping while sitting up straight. I am almost to the point of saying I would rather be fat but I still have hope to get it fixed.

I hope your test come out as positive as they can and everything can be fixed.

I went to the Mountains this weekend and have been tight all week and its been hell. I have been sick so trying to take it easy. I thought by Wed I would be OK so I ate some food. nope not ready!! Ya know what makes me mad is that it doesn't "get stuck" or full feeling. It will seem like everything is OK until later on or when its time for bed is a nightmare. I ate a pot pit Sunday night and on Monday afternoon threw it up. Food shouldn't still be there then. I haven't thrown up in a long time. But the acid thing at night is a constant problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
