Hi All,

I am now 6 days post op. And still can not eat solid foods.

I'm recording everything that goes in my mouth and here is the run down. This is an average day.

liquids - 17oz

Protein - 3g

cal - 27

This is for an entire day. I just sip, sip and sip. I will take a lick here in there for food.< /p>

My surgeon says that my stomach is a lot smaller because of the hernia. My stomach can hold 1oz at a time.

I am losing 1 lb a day. I am now 203lb this morning.

Please someone tell me, is this normal?

Also, what if I make my goal weight of 130. If I am still eating like this, will I keep losing weight. So one day I wake up and I am 90 lbs?

What makes a body to average out--or does it?

Pam

I am concerned about your Protein intake, actually your daily intake especially protein b/c protein helps one recouperate. In my case, for about a week or so, I misread my protein label and was only getting like 30 protein (400 cals) and I went down hill fast, my incisions were hurting, stomach hurt, the way I felt was terriable. Definetly call your NUT/DR and tell them your daily intake, if I were you I would try to sip on protein shake/shooter every chance you can.. Good luck and keep us posted.

You stomach is swollen, and you will slowly be able to put more into it. You must stay hydrated though. Keep after that Water and other liquids! This will make you sick even more than not enough proteins....Try the clear Protein liquids, Isopure in the bottle has been recommended to me... After your stomach calms down and heals, you will be able to eat more.

At 6 days post-op, your stomach is still swollen and it's probably too soon to be eating solids anyway. I had to drink liquids for 2 weeks post-op, then move to full liquids a week after that, then soft solids, which I've been doing for two weeks. However, during my full liquids stage, my stomach still didn't tolerate a lot of things and I was nauseous alot. I, too, was concerned about my Protein intake because I basically wasn't getting any. When I spoke to my surgeon, he said he wasn't worried about protein; the most important thing to do is not get dehydrated. So just keep sipping on Water and hang in there.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
