Hi my surgery was the 21st of October and I am feeling great lost 18lbs already, but the only problem I have is I am having horrible mood swings where I get so irratated/frustrated I lash out at my family by yelling-today I was rude to a girl that is supposed to be my friend because she has been getting on my nerves lately- Help I want to know this is normal and also what I can do to help to stop it

Thanks,

Peggy

It is perfectly normal, and my episodes lasted all the way through my rapid losing stage, and tapered off as I got closer to maintaining. I hate to say it, but mine lasted a good 8 months post-op. It was way worse right before my period, and I was a raging lunatic some days.

One thing I did was consciously try to recognize when it was going to happen, and try to control those emotions. I also got super down in the dumps, needed lots of reassurance from my husband, and it was stressful. BUT, we got through it.

There wasn't anything I could "do" other than try to stop myself from exploding, some days it worked, other days were epic fails.

It does get better ! ! !

Hey Peggy...

21st Oct... and doing well, congrats on your weight loss so far! Don't forget you are still healing and that will magnify things. I too remember being moody in the first 6 weeks... and more recently I have also been moody again! I am now able to recognise when I am having an 'off' day and I just go with the flow...lol...

Keep your chin up! =]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
