Hey y'all, got tired of 'lurking' around your site and decided it was time to join up! You guys really post some helpful stuff. Surgery is Thursday morning. I've been jumping through the hoops since I attended the seminar in March and FINALLY have everything ready. When the doc told me to lose 38 lbs before surgery, I thought, "dang, doc....if I could do that I wouldn't need surgery." I was wrong, but I have lost 55 lbs and I am so ready to get this going! I've already dropped a couple of pant sizes, but I'm thinking how great it will be to not have to buy clothes at the big and tall shop!!!!! Non-scale victories (learned that here) are great goal-setters. Riding the rides at Six-Flags, setting in a booth, riding dirt bikes, setting in a normal size chair on a camp-out, I could go on but y'all know what I'm talking about. Best of luck to all y'all waiting.

Go Rangers!

Dennis

Welcome Dennis and good luck with your surgery. Sounds like you did great with your pre-op diet. I was at the baseball game on Saturday - what a rush! Wish our boys could go all the way, but we've got a battle on our hands. Don't know where you're having surgery, but if at Northpark you'll love it. They're great!

Hi Dennis! You know that list of things you're looking forward to doing (or not doing)? WRITE IT DOWN so you can look at it a few months after surgery and be amazed. There was a thread going here shortly after I joined, which was just before surgery, where people were listing all their reasons for having the surgery and everything they were looking forward to. I hunted that down last week, and you know what? EVERY SINGLE THING that I put on my list, I got to check off!! Write it down, take lots of pictures (with clothes, with almost no clothes, posed from every angle, natural un-posed shots) because you're going to want to compare later on, too. There's no way to make you understand how absolutely wonderful this thing is, but we can help you experience the best of it for yourself! :)

Best wishes Dennis ! ! !Sounds like you're from my neck of the woods, I grew up out near Weatherford as a child, but moved to the mid-cities (Bedford) for most of my adult life before marrying my husband. I miss Texas SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH ! ! ! Cheers to you on your success, and wishing you many more victories in the near future.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
