Nauseous After Surgery

Recommended Posts

I had laproscopic surgery in August (fibroid tumor) and the surgeon gave me something that would stop me from getting nauseous after surgery. Believe it or not, I forgot to use it (you have to put it on the night before) but luckily I didn't have any problems.

It's a patch that you put behind your ear the night before surgery and just leave it there.

The information from the box:

TRANSDERM SCOP PATCH

SCOPOLAMINE HYDROBROMADE 1.5 mg

Each patch is programmed to deliver in vivo approximately 1.0 mg over 3 days.

This is a medication for motion sickness / traveling but my surgeon said that it works well for surgery patients. After reading about the nausea issues I'm definitely going to email Nina and ask if I can use it because the throught of throwing up after that kind of stomach surgery scares the crap out of me!

I am from Kentucky, but had my surgery in Tennessee. They actually had me put one of those Patches behind my ear, before I went into surgery. I am 5 days post op and have yet to have any nausea at all. So I would definitely aske about getting a patch.

With this particular surgery, the nausea is very common and the patch alone may not do the trick. Make sure you ask them to give you anti-nausea meds during the surgery and you can also ask for the patch as well. I had both PLUS numberous other meds including Compazine and nothing really took away the horrible nausea. But I had had chronic nausea for 7 years since my cancer surgery that I took meds for every day. The good news is that I dealt with awful nausea in the hospital for a few days but now I am completely off of ALL nausea med for the first time in 7 years and it is fabulous!

I had a horrible nausea after surgery (October 26, so still a newbie) and doctor prescribed both the patch and lorazapam 1 mg and metoclopramide 10 mg. I only had to take it for few days and nausea is gone.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
