Gentle Exercise DVDs

I have Fibroymyalgia so I'm very concerned about how much I will be able to exercise after surgery. However, I do have many tools and hopefully I have the drive and will power. I was part of a 'pain management group' at a local hospital last year and they taught us how to manage pain without meds. A huge part of that was exercise. I bought a few DVD's that I was really impressed with and had fun doing with the group. Unfortunately, they've been gathering dust for many months but I'm counting on them to get me started on a more active lifestyle. (Why haven't I started already?!? lol)

By the way, these DVDs were available in the hospital library and you could check them out for an unlimited time for FREE! Check with your hospital to see if they have a library because it's an incredible resource for books and CDs.

Here are the ones I loved and bought:

Rainbow Sun Qigong (It's for seniors and when I see these older women doing these moves I feel that my 41 yr old butt has NO EXCUSE not to)

4 Minute Fitness with Dr. Keith Jeffery (he's cheesy as hell but I did feel good doing these exercises and gained strength quickly)

Yoga in Bed (Very gentle moves and the only Yoga I can do!)

These are GREAT if you have a lot of pain and tend to use that as an excuse not to exercise (like me!!).

Thanks TStew for the info. I have a lot more weight than most people on here have to lose and I really have a hard time getting myself motivated to get up and do anything. But anything that is easy on my knees and back sounds like something I can at least give a try. I'll check with my city library before I check with the hospital library. They have quite a few Cd's and DVD's. Thanks again.

Leslie Sanson or Sansome has a exercise DVD Walk away the pounds, 1 mile that is very good. She has one lady not using weights in the video and one lady doing half reps instead of the whole (arm stretch). My mother was sleeved 11/14 and she was able to get through half of the video. I am really proud of her.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
