WLS cookbooks?

Are there any out there? I'll be 5 weeks out on Monday, so I'm almost back to being able to eat normally. However, I still have all of next week to go. I feel like I'm running out of things to cook.

Nothing specific to sleevers and most of the general weight loss surgery cookbooks seem to have a lot of fat and/or calories. I've picked up a couple of low carb cookbooks, but can't recommend any yet. Good luck finding someone and let us all know if you find a good one!

I had been looking in bookstores but I couldn't find any. However, I just went to Barnes and Noble online and typed in weight loss surgery cookbooks and quite a few came up. I'll probably order one or two and then let ya'll know how it's going.

For most of my recipes, the biggest things I did was cut carbs, and increase Protein. For anything that called for breadcrumbs, I used Pork rinds as the binder. For anything that called for sour cream, I substituted nonfat, plain greek yogurt.

I use allrecipes.com for all my recipes. Spaghetti squash is a good alternative for Pasta noodles. Not exactly the same, but it's better than nothing.

She is an RNY patient that has tons of recipes that are for bariatric patients. You can peruse her website as she has tons, and tons of recipes. I've also posted quite a few recipes on here. I posted a meatloaf that is all Protein (pork rinds used as the binder), and other things that I've made more sleeve friendly in the recipe forum.

Pretty much, just focus on replacing the carby stuff with non-carby stuff and go from there. I don't even buy sour cream anymore, it's all greek yogurt, and my family has no objection to me using it instead of sour cream.

I also just bought George Stella's Livin Low Carb -- he lost a ton of weight just eating low carb and has a terrific cookbook -- I've made several of the recipes and they're easy, quick and taste is outstanding :) Even my kids like it - double bonus :) He uses a lot of soy flour in his recipes that call for breading -- haven't used it yet, but as soon as I do, I'll let you all know :)

I ordered a book from Amazon.com called "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery". It offers a great deal of recipes and even tells you how to prepare them depending on how many weeks out you are post op.

I have Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery too! (written by Patt Levine) I bought it at Barnes & Noble.

I like it because she has a very easy to follow chart at the bottom of each recipe on how much to serve and when depending on the type of WLS you have. (She does NOT have anything specific for the sleeve, I think because it is probably too new, but she has the band, RNY, BPD-DS) but she has great recommendations for pureeing food, etc. She also has the complete nutrition breakdown including calories and Protein content. I believe the author herself has had a band since 2003.

There IS a lot of fish recipes, and admittedly I'm not much of a fish fan beyond salmon and tuna. Hopefully her recipes will inspire me to eat more fish. The one drawback is there are absolutely NO pictures. :(

Oh! I forgot to mention there is a lady named Michelle (can't think of the last name) who writes a blog called theworldaccordingtoeggface and she is a bypass patient who does all sorts of WLS-friendly recipes. I haven't tried any of her recipes (she has a TON on her blog) but she is AWESOME about pictures and details. Really great blog to check out when you need some ideas. She has some great ways of using leftovers from a restaurant meal too...can't say enough good things about her blog!

I have hungry girl cookbooks, their great. One of the is called 200 under 200 (calories). They may not be wls, but they are still great if your on solids.

I looked at those cookbooks, but I never bought one - mainly because I think eating with a sleeve allows you A LOT more things than RNY and Band and the main reason why I wanted to get the sleeve was to avoid the restrictions. Now, if I cook according to an RNY/Band cookbook, it seems like I am short-changing myself - not?

I have another week on full liquids and then I have to fly the coop, so if anyone comes across a cookbook for sleeves, that would be cool.

Other than that, I don't think we need a specific cook book other than "High Protein" (not even necessarily low carb)

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...
