148 pounds gone and Goal reached

Recommended Posts

You are the man Gary. When I first started reading on this site seeing your results were amazing and made me seriously look in to this surgery. Hopefully one day I can make a thread celebrating being as successful as you. B)

WOOHOO!!!! Gary, you rock!!!! I knew you would do it soon!! You look absolutely fantastic, by the way, I could not believe my eyes when you were here. Rich was especially stunned! He's up to 50 pounds down but is doing it the hard way... again! So proud of you, of all of us! You guys need to plan on coming down again, anytime. Me, I'm still hanging at 101 lost - goal was 104 but I just pulled that number out of my head. I've been fluctuating between 153 and 156 for some time now. If the remaining three pounds comes off, fine but if not, that's fine too. Probably tmi but it's only coming off my boobs now and I can't spare any more! so I really do think my body is where it wants to be.

YIPPPPPEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!

Say hey to Larry for us!

p.s. are your girls still considering VSG? Can't wait to hear the next chapters...!

Carol, did we make the right choice or what? VSG has been great for both of us and seeing you in September and in the picture of you at Sears, WOW just like I said when Larry and I were in the Keys, you don't look like you ever had a weight problem. It has really been a blessing for the both of us. Rich told me before we left he was really amazed and wanted to start working on getting some off. It is great that he has been able to lose that much without surgery, he really don't like the ideal of surgery. I agree, I to am proud of all of us. We would love to plan another trip to come see you guys again. Really had a blast! Thanks again for everything. I still cannot get over how pretty it is to dive in the ocean.

I don't see how you have anymore weight to lose, your so small and active it would have gone if it was there to lose.

My girls are still considering VSG after the first of the year, but I found out Monday that my youngest daughter is going to have another baby so that will delay her having surgery. Lucky for me I get another Grandbaby.

I will tell Larry you guys said hello, tell Rich and Richie we said hello.

Hope you have a great week in the Keys.

Gary B

RaiderRob,

I wish you all the luck in the world with your weightloss. VSG was a God send in my case. Last December I made up my mind to have WLS and was looking for MX doctors for the Lapband since my insurance would not cover any type of WLS. That is when I started learning about VSG vs Lap Band, it did not take long for me to change my mind and as you see I am so happy I did. It has been amazing to see the weight come off like it has, that being said I needed to 147 to 148 pounds so I was not a lite weight and we all know the larger a person is the faster it comes off.

VSG is a great tool and a tool I needed to help me get to my goal, but I still have to eat the right foods and make the right choices. Since I started trying to maintain I catch myself thinking I am eating to much of the wrong type foods, not portions because I still know when enough is enough, but carbs. But I guess not because I have been able to stay in the range I set for myself.

My only regret about the VSG is I wish I could have had it done years ago.

I know with VSG you will be able to make that thread and we will all be celebrating with you.

Thanks,

Gary B

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
