Okay, today is Oct. 29th, and it just hit me. I have not had a single piece of candy this Oct.

I knew I would be having VSG surgery in Oct, and didn't want to buy any Halloween candy early on. Then I had surgery on Oct. 22, and of course now I CAN'T eat any candy but heck I am realizing what a victory going 22 days in Oct. without a single piece of candy is! Awesome!!!

I did have to go and buy some for this weekend, but it is hidden (for now) out of sight out of mind. :)

That is great, I know this time of year can be very tough for many of us. But, if we do everything in moderation, we can succeed.

I'm 4 weeks out and I won't lie, I am struggling with the no candy. My sweet tooth is not gone and every time I go to the store, I want to grab an assorted bag of candy. I haven't done it but it's REEEEEALLY hard. Sigh.

I'm just 6 days out and I'm so thankful that I physically cannot eat candy right now. I also have an intense sweet tooth and the pounds of candy that my kids bring home normally means additional pounds on me. Hoping that next year, when I can actually eat it, moderation will be on my side!

I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow, so I am def. experimenting with new foods and able to handle things better now. I admit I have dipped into what the kids came home with, but I think I've done well with just picking one or two of the things I love the most, and the rest is just there. I physically just cannot eat A LOT, so even if I feel like I've slipped and eaten something not so healthy.. I still think I am better off than before. I KNOW I am. Good job everyone! All in moderation, yes!

I had had 3 pieces of bite size candy over the past two weeks. Snickers made me higher than a kite. KitKat tasted good and seemed to calm my sweet tooth. Then tonight (Halloween) I had an Almond Joy. The coconut did not sit well in my stomach at all.

I've had 6 little candies between trick or treating yesterday and today. I so wanted one of the fun size candy bars but I resisted. I'm sending the rest of it to work with hubby tomorrow. GET IT OUT OF HERE!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
