Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has any advise on how long to wait to decide if you need to have the Tummy Tuck and breast reduction surgery. Or really how long to wait to see if your skin will start to go back? I had my band surgery 01/27/06. And I'm down about 50 lbs. but getting frusterated with all this flubb! I'm the girdle queen!!! But looking forward to not having to wear it! Any advice will help.

Thanks,

Wearing girdle panties helped me ALOT during weightloss keep it up! I am just about 2 yrs out and saving $$ for my PS work. "MY" Dr. says to wait atleast 1 year before deciding on PS in fact at my last visit he told me I should wait until my final 45 pounds are gone, not a issue since I dont have the $$ yet lol

When I can afford it, lol. I think I'm too chicken to really have PS but I'd be confident to get my boobs done now. I'm about 35lb from my goal but I know my upper body wont change much from hereon in. I dont have much fat on my chest, arms or boobs at all, I'm just a tad dangly, and I'd like smaller boobs.

Tummy Tuck, I think within reasonable sight of your goal weight - like 25lb or less perhaps - it'd probably result in enough weight loss to almost get you to goal anyway. You are certainly going to see then if you're going to have a problem or not and really, why wait to see if it tightens. If you think your skin could tighten and then you'd not need the tummy tuck, then I think you probably dont need the tummy tuck anyway, lol. A whole apron is not going to magically disappear.

Jennie,

I can't comment about how long to wait, but I CAN tell you what happened to me. After I'd lost about 60 or 70 lbs, I noticed kind of loose skin (especially between my legs-sorry if TMI) It was really kind of scary and hideous looking. I knew I still had about 50 or so pounds to go, at least so I didn't even consider PS. What happened was that I kind of plateaued and you know what? The skin and my overall body shape kind of evened out during that plateau (that I'm still on, by the way). I lost 2 pant sizes during the plateau and the loose, hideous skin is so much better.

Give it time, make sure it's what you want and REALLY need. I agree with the person who recommended waiting a year. That would give your body time to adjust to it's losses.

Typically the doctor advised that you should wait a full year before proceeding with cosmetic surgery. Probably because you are still losing and feel closer to goal. It probably depends on how close to goal you are. If you are 72 lbs your body will move even further so I would wait if you can. P.S. I'm in the same boat girl. Flab, flab. I plan on waiting until I lose 80 lbs which will bring me just under 200 lbs and 25 lbs range of goal.

I remember reading a members site (I think it was Muffin Birdie?) and she has been there and done that (And looks fantastic too!). Her advise was to get down to goal before going ahead with plastic surgery, because you will get a better result.

To be honest, I think she is right. The closer I get to goal, the more dramatic the changes are getting. I have noticed in the last 5kg (12lbs) that my belly has shrunk down to something I can hide with a girdle (the full under the bra, to the top of the thigh kind - sexy huh? :nervous).

I see my surgeon on August 10. I fully intend on getting down to his goal weight of 143lbs, so when he agrees to do my TT I will be under my, and his goal weight when it is all over. I want the best result I can get. I do not plan on doing this twice.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
