I don't know what I'd do without all of you but I'm almost there so don't give up on me. As most of you know, my date is set, I'm put it on my credit card, I've paid for and got the airline tickets, I've as of today got my aftercare set up although it is 4 hours away, but that's no biggy. Here's the deal. It seems I've got almost everything on my list bought, bills paid up, everything I can think of to do and haven't been at all nervous about the surgery itself. But, today, it seems I'm losing it. I don't know why. I just want to cry and I don't know wy. I'm still more than sure it's not that. I feel some sort of overwhelming feeling and I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm just falling apart on a small scale. Did anyone experience any of this. It's just little things, nothing's happened and so far everything has been easy to get taken care of and 90 % of everything's done. What's wrong with me?

Would appreciate any experienced bander or someone about to be banded to let me know what the heck you think is going on.

Hi Sherri,

I was just banded by Dr. Sanchez on 6-2 and they are all great over there. The hospital is very nice, clean and his guest house is the same. So if Dr. Sanchez or MX is what your scared about...........you should not be. The surgery really isn't bad either, I felt worse after childbirth. Well for the rest, my journey is just beginning...........I hope I made ya feel atleast a little better. Take care, Sissi

Ahh Sherri, I felt the same way. I should have been excited but instead was very emotional. I think many of us feel like this.

It is very normal. Afterall, our life is about to change. Our relationship, with food, is about to change. It is both scary and exciting!

It's great you are prepared and ready. Take this time to do some special things with your family. Start exercising and eating right, if you haven't already. Get a jump start.

Good luck. Shawn

Sherri,

I was banded by Dr. Sanchez on 5/25. Still healing but have absolutely no regrets. I was scared too. I remember going into the surgery room and thinking "I'll wake up in a little bit and it will be over" and that's what happened. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and I've lost 16 lbs. The entire hospital staff were very gentle and you will be very pleased with the surgical staff. You've spent alot of time researching and getting ready. Now it's time to relax. Good luck with your surgery.

Sharon

I had the same feelings. I think it is perfectly normal. Dr. Sanchez is a wonderful surgeon, and the anethesiologist I had was banded by Dr. Sanchez just 2 weeks before my surgery! A pretty reassuring thing there.

It is a big step. Exciting and scary at the same time. We are all so full of hope when we go into this surgery, hope that finally SOMETHING will work...and a little fear that maybe somehow we will fail at this too. Some nervousness is to be expected, and it will work if you work with it. You will be fine. I will be sending you some prayers and positive thoughts on the 10th.

I'm a mother of two children, and my husband is out of the state for a few more months, so I'm doing this kinda alone. I decided to do the same as you did pay everything up and i scrubbed down the house. I also made up a kid friendly menu, of foods my children can pretty much make by themself, I premade sloppy joe mix, and taco meat, hot pockets, premade pancakes and bacon ect....You get the idea. And froze them with my food saver. This will make my first week so much easier. Not so healthy, but my children are not overweight, so one week wont kill them. But now I have nothing to do. ive tried twiddleing my thumbs. tapping my nails, crying, laughing. Now i just wish I could just sleep till my surgery date.

I knew I could count on all of you for some good positive feedback.

I guess I am just all caught up in this and can't wait on top of that.

I really need to start cutting my cokes back bad, today. I dread the headaches but I'd rather have them now then after surgery.

Thanks for all of your positive thinking.

Love you all,

Sherri

Since lap band is an elective surgery, it is natural to be scared and wonder if you are doing the right thing. If the surgery were a matter of life and death, we wouldn't think twice about it. Lap band is not a matter of life and death, but it is the chance for a better, healthier life. I looked at lapband surgery as an investment in my health. I was banded 08/29/05 and have lost 73 pounds. I am very happy with my band.

I was very emotioinal to. I was so scared that I even wrote a letter to my two little boys incase something happened to me. After I was surprised at how easy it went. You will be fine. It's just the waiting that is so hard. But I was a wreck for about a week before. And just so you know you might be emotional after for a couple days. I think the meds made me cry a lot. But I would go back and do it again in a heart beat. Good luck to you. You will soon be starting your new life.

Sherri, I felt the very same. I had a complete meltdown at least 2 days before my surgery. Its an emotional roller coaster. Thinking about why, how, what if, etc. I had my surgery last Tuesday and I'm doing fine. Just let the emotions run their course. Cry all you want. This is going to be a new life for you. I have about the same lbs to lose as you. You will be fine. Let it all out then the excitement will hit when you get closer. Good luck.

You sound very normal. You are voluntarily doing something invasive to your body. It's a huge step. It's a huge committment. I had a lot of doubts. I was scared, nervous. You name it, I felt it. I mean, I had *only* 100 lbs to lose.

But then I thought about it a lot more. Yes, I probably could lose a bunch again with a traditional diet. I have done it in the past. BUT, every single time, it would all come back - and bring some friends. What made me think that this time would be any different? This time, I wanted - really wanted - for it to work. To be gone for good. To have something more that my weak willpower working for me. My gatekeeper will always be with me. I still feel I made the best choice for me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
