Nice, I "liked" these.

I think she got an earful from the backlash emails and media she received for the article. I think she has been fully chastised, I think though she just said what a lot of other people never have the courage to say, which is quite sad when you think about it.

FOR SHAME.

Hmmm... I don't remember hearing such disgusting things being spouted when Roseanne was on the air. I seem to remember several make out sessions and elusions to bedroom activities between the star "fatties" on that show.

Vile, vile, woman with a target for bad mojo.

By the time I read it she had posted an update. But I think that's just PR. She's such an insensitive @ss.

This part:

But ... I think obesity is something that most people have a ton of control over. It's something they can change, if only they put their minds to it.

really stuck out at me. Oh, the many many times I've "put my mind to it". Unfortunately, I think this is what the majority of American's feel or believe, even the overweight ones. It makes me not want to tell anyone, including close family and friends that I'm having WLS. It's like religion and politics, no amount of facts will change their minds. This lady was just brave/stupid enough to tell everyone how she really feels.

This woman is ignorant and arrogant, like so many others who are allowed to petal their BS in the media. I will certainly never have anything to do with Marie Claire in the future, except to expose it for what it is.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
