Once you have been sleeved, the mindless eating that was done prior to being sleeved, how is that now that you have your surgery?

For me, that was the trickiest part. I am definitely a mindless eater at night - when watching tv or on the computer. I had to plan Snacks in the evening so that I can still have something to eat, but include it in my good food choices.

To get the most restriction, you need to be eating Protein first. Carbs seem to slide down (that's why they are called "sliders") and not fill you up as much. But, who always wants a turkey roll or Jerky at night? So, when I decide to have popcorn, chips, or some other type of snack, I measure it out, put it in a nice bowl and don't go back for seconds. You would be amazed at how long I can make a 100 calorie bag of popcorn last in the evening! :D

It's still a challenge, but it's a lot easier. I spend lots of time studying on the computer, and in the past I'd munch on something every 2 hours. I just try to drink lots of tea and snack on healthy things. Apple slices are my favorites right now, as it's apple season. It's pretty hard to eat a LOT mindlessly - you'll be full fast - so unless you are going for slider foods, it probably won't do much damage. I just consciously choose things that I know will fill me up and aren't too high in calories (which means avoiding nuts in front of the computer, for example). It requires paying some attention to things, but like I said, it's much easier than it was before the surgery.

It's just as easy to mindlessly munch and graze now as it was pre-op especially with slider foods. I opt for a healthier option now that I'm in maintenance. During my losing phase, I really didn't snack because I knew I needed to avoid it completely to get to goal. I ate when I wasn't hungry pre-op, and now that my hunger is completely gone, I still eat when I'm not hungry. BUT, with the sleeve, eating a healthier option is easier.

For me, and maybe because I'm still early on, I CAN'T snack and graze through the evening. I even measured out 1/2 cup of chex mix to snack on, and I took a few bites and was full, couldn't eat it all. So the fact that I feel full and just not hungry, I have sorta stopped snacking. Very strange. And for me.. I would go from snack to snack to snack until bed, I'd go to bed uncomfortable but happy and stuffed. This to me is so far one of the best perks! I can't get over how many evenings I've finished my dinner around 5:30pm and that's IT for the night.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
