The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!

I live about 23 miles from the facility' date=' so I won't have to do the hotel thing. However, I think if I had to do that, in addition to what I plan to bring for the hospital, I'd bring a heating pad, plenty of bottled Water, a loose nightgown and a second set of underwear, sweat pants/yoga pants and loose-to-baggy shirt. I'd also tuck in some slippers because I don't think I would feel like putting on socks but I would have cold tootsies (I always do when I have surgery, even though I never seem to any other time!). I'd also make sure I had something to sip my Water from that had measurements on it so I would know how much I was taking in. I might also bring something to flavor my water in case I have problems drinking it.[/quote']

I am working on a hospital list and hotel list. The hotel does have rooms set up for bariatric patients so that is a plus. I told my husband our car may be loaded but I want to make sure if I might need it that I have it.

if your staying at a hotel post op you may want to bring a mild soap the stuff in the hotels with perfume might be a problem with your insistions

Definitely bringing my own toiletries. U have such allergies I don't want to flare up causing a sneezing fit. The room also has a leather recliner so I am bringing extra warm blankets due to concerns with chilling post surgery.

Is there a link to a complied list? I love this thread but there is just so much information…has anyone compiled a complete list? It would be so greatly appreciated. :)

The only stuff you really need is:

chap stick

a travel pillow or your own pillow to pad your tummy from the seatbelt

phone and charger

toothbrush and toothpaste

clean undies

I wore TO the hospital what I planned on wearing home FROM the hospital. Less stuff, just easier. They put you in a hospital gown and before going into surgery they put those little rubber bottomed socks on me.

You really need very little. I never put on my gown or slippers. I took make up, just because I wanted to put on make up before I left.

Thanks for all this information! I've had dozens of abdominal surgeries, non weight loss related though, all due to a seriously botched operation 16 years ago...OY!

I've been waiting years for a chance to do this sleeve operation, I was far too ill before, but I'm scheduled to have my surgery April 3rd, 2013, and I've been told that I'm a rare care since Medicare approved to pay for this procedure 3 days after my surgeon asked for it.

I'm notorious for over packing for surgeries, but all my other operations I'd end up in the hospital for a minimum of a month to 3 months after each. For this sleeve procedure I've not yet been told how long a hospital stay I'll have, but my surgeon, Dr. Patrick Reardon has operated on me so many times through the years that he's a little over protective of me, so I don't know how long I'll be there. Hopefully a day or two like most of you.

I think the only thing I'd add to your list here from my many abdominal surgeries is not to bring anything like a lotion or perfume with a strong scent. That is the only thing that really gets to me post-op is a strong scent.

During all my past surgeries I've been lucky to have had my sister with me, but this time I'll be alone. This will be the first laproscopic surgery I've had, all my other operations had huge incisions, so I'm not really worried about this one at all.

Today is my first day here, just found this place and I'm so happy to see such a wonderfully informative and supportive community!

Thanks again,

ShiraShayn

Not sure how other sleevers have figured out how to keep their food from getting cold by taking 30-45 minutes to eat, but I ordered this online for me. I know...it's for babies...but it'll work for me with Portion Control as well. Here's the link if anyone is interested:

Green Sprouts Warming Plate

Great suggestion. Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
