Hi folks,

My name is Dr. Trace Curry, and I'm a bariatric surgeon in Cincinnati. I have a wierd obsession with helping band patients do well, so I thought I might hang out here on the complications forum. I don't want to intrude on patients' space or anything, so I won't read any of the other forums, just this one.

If anyone needs advice feel free to post here, preferrably with "Dr. C" in the title so I know to read the message. Or, if it's something you don't want posted publicly you can email to bandsterdoc@yahoo.com

Obviously, I can handle emergencies so don't post a message saying "Dr. C I'm dying--please answer this post within 2 minutes or I'm a gonner!" but I will try to check posts here once or twice day.

Nice to meet you all!

Dr. C

Dr. C..My disaster has already happened..LOL But I just want you to know I think you are doing a great thing.. (Not unless you can give me advice on a serious hernia due to my 6 surgerys in 6 months..: ) ) I hope you can help others... By the way just curious, How long have you been a Bariatric Surgeon?

Hello Dr. C! I love your wierd obsession with helping band patients do well. LOL It's good to have you here! We could probably use you on some of the other Forums, too, though, so don't limit yourself! Thanks for the intro. Welcome to LBT!

I have been at this for about 3 years. I've done about 400 lap RNY's and about 300 lap bands.

Dr C is great :). I don't know him personally, but I've seen him giving advice on another forum.

Gotta love anyone with obsession to help us!

So Dr. C I have a question for you.

I had my first fill of 2cc at 3 months on March 12. When I went for my second fill at 6 months on June 6 she only pulled out .5cc. She put in .5cc

What happened to the 2cc?

Does that mean I only have 1cc in there?

I had tons of restriction right off the bat even without a fill. Now I can almost eat anything.... I am a bit confused.

Should I get another fill?

Thanks for what ever light you can shed on this.

Well, I don't have a pretty post like some but thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. I find it so dicouraging that most doctors don't want to see you or talk to you if they didn't preform the surgery. I just wanted some Xrays taken and they wouldn't do it. Grrr...lol

I am new here, but welcome!!!

Kashia

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
