One month post-op, down 36 pounds!!

Recommended Posts

Just thought i would share. Getting the sleeve was the best thing i did for myself. I am a 49 year old male and 6 foot 3 inches. I weighed 341 pounds the day of surgery 09/27/10...this morning i am down to 305 pounds. I am following all the guidelines my NUT has set for me and try to walk 3-5 miles most every day. No way i could have done this without the sleeve, i tried many times.

I encourage anyone who is thinking of this procedure to get it. You won't be sorry. My surgeon was Dr. Keith Kim in Orlando, he and all the nurses at Florida Hospital were great. I had nausea the first 2 days i was home (thank God for Phenergan) but after that i was fine. I did not even have to take any of the Lortab for pain and my scars are healing nicely. I am on pepcid for two months and then just a regular Vitamin supplement regimen.

I was self pay and had to take out a loan from my credit union, but i would do it all again in a heartbeat. I know i will not lose this much weight in the coming months, but that's fine. I already feel so much better. Good luck to everyone out there.

Wow that is absolutely AMAZING !!!

Congratulations, I only hope I can do anywhere near as good after my surgery on Dec 7th..

I know from my visits to Florida that it is lovely and flat and great for walking.

I don't think I'll be able to do the same walking mileage as you so soon after surgery as I live in a very hillly area. I might manage to stagger a few up hill yards to start with LOL !!!

Keep up the brilliant work.

Best wishes Angela ( UK member )

Thanks and good luck with your surgery. You will do great. Yes, Florida is great for walking and we have hiking and biking trails nearby. My wife walks with me and that helps. She is normal BMI and has never had a weight problem, she has been my biggest supporter. When i lose some more weight we will take up bike riding. I hope i remember how. LOL.

Congratulations on your successes! I agree that this has been the best thing I have ever done for myself! It's quite amazing how empowering it is when food no longer rules your life!

Keep up the good job! I am 4 weeks out today and haven't been able to do too much walking yet (had a really tough recovery) but we went to see some friends to the LA Rock & Roll Marathon yesterday and had to walk probably a mile to get back to our car and I did ok, so I think I will start getting some walking in now :-)

Keep posting your successes! It is such an inspiration to the rest of us and especially to those who haven't been sleeved yet!

Wow you are doing so fabulous! Congrats to you on being so successful :-) Now you made me realize that I need to get my walk on more like I'm supposed to. I'm only doing about 2-3 days per week and that is for me not so good.

I'm also 6 weeks out this week so it's time to get back on my elliptical and stationary bike and get back to reality and normal life routines.

Thank you so much for reminding me of this! B)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
