90+ days post-op...and worrying again...

Recommended Posts

So, I'm down to a size 10 in jeans, and my hubby commented last night that I look even better now (at age 35) than I did at 19, when we met. He doesn't give gratuitous compliments, so I can rest assured that he certainly thinks so!

But I've been worrying (when do I not?) as I get further post-op, and my weight-loss slows, and my appetite increases. I also have to face the sad reality that I'm not going to be able to get back into running--I've got too much spinal arthritis. What really freaks me out is trying to figure out to maintain a stable weight long-term given the realities of my past physical injuries catching up with me and making it difficult to get regular exercise without paying for it later in terms of having to take muscle relaxants and prescription pain medication (it's really that bad :( ). I guess it's back to the old 'celery-carrots-and-string-cheese' snacking, instead of nuts (no matter how raw they are). And various other tricks I learned as a diabetic...that's the one that really freaks me out, is the idea of having to go back on insulin.

I'm so sorry you're worried. The future it always full of unknowns and sometimes it's scary. But, I'm wondering why you think that you'll regain a lot of weight given that you only have a little room in your stomach?? I know that you want to incorporate exercise that doesn't exacerbate your back -- what about swimming?? Or maybe even consulting a physical therapist who could help you with an exercise regimen??

I really don't think that you will regain much -- I read on OH people who have been sleeved for 3 and 4 years and the most they have regained is 10 pounds . . . . I just can't imagine that you'd regain with such a small stomach. :)

More importantly, congratulations on the 65+ pounds you have already lost :D And in size 10 pants! That must make you feel awesome :)

I have NOT had the surgery yet, but I will in 7 more days. November 1st is my day, and I'm so excited.

So---since May, I have been weighing myself EVERY day. And of course record it.

I keep myself accountable...

Maybe you can try that. Weigh yourself every single day of your life.

Also, I heard that stress can cause weight gain :D

Gratz on the size 10---WOW!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
